Toys and Games Reviews of Music & Lights Sit 'n Spin: Rockin' TunesCustomer Review: This toy broke in less than 24 hours Summary: 5 Stars
I bought this toy for my kids yesterday evening, and this morning the toy is broke! The upper portion of the toy (the center part the child hangs on to to spin themseves) won't stay attached to the base of the toy. My kids have had tremendous fun spinning and the sounds/lights, but essentially you have to screw together two plastic parts together with a heavy screw, and neither plastic part has grooves in them. My husband can probably rig something to keep the two parts together, but I didn't expect the toy to do this less than 24 hours AFTER I bought it. I normally associate playskool with higher quality than this. Again, the kids love it but if I could keep the toy together it would be perfect. Just be careful.
Customer Review: Even at 18 months, my daughter enjoyed this classic! Summary: 4 Stars
I had such fond memories of my sit n' spin, that I knew I had to get one for my daughter! We thought she would also enjoy it since one of her favorite activities is being spun around by mommy or daddy! She got it for Christmas (at 18 months), struggled a little, but within a week, had the hang of it! Now, at 22 months, she can go pretty fast and yells "dizzy!" and "weeeeee!" over and over! I think the lights and music are a fun addition to this classic. The music is really not too loud, so I was able to tune it out easily. haha. Well worth the money for us! Oh, and another reviewer stated that the top part kept coming off, but you really need to snap it in tight for it to stay - then no problems!
Customer Review: Age range may be inappropriate Summary: 5 Stars
I recently purchased this toy for my daughter's third birthday. She has played with a regular sit'n spin in our church nursery for several months. The toy in our nursery has "survived" its original owner and many other children for several years. However, after only two days of play, the music & lights sit'n spin we purchased broke apart. The handle the child turns the sit'n spin by came out of the base while my daughter was riding. Though this toy is a great amount of fun for kids, the construction of this newer model does not appear to be as durable of the original model. If construction is not altered, perhaps the age guidelines should be readjusted to exclude older children.
Customer Review: Can be a dangerous toy! Summary: 3 Stars
My daughter was bought this sit and spin for her 2nd Christmas around 16 months old. She really doesn't care about the sound being loud or if the sound is even on at all. To be quite honest we don't really let her play on it all that much and keep it up because shortly after christmas she was walking through the room and stepped on it and it flipped her into a table and she had to go to the hospital for stitches. When we do let her get it down she sometimes will try to play with it the wrong way like standing on it, or sitting on the middle. I may be overly cautious since her accident but I don't think it's very safe unless you have them in a rubber room .
Customer Review: Both of my boys love it! Summary: 5 Stars
We bought this for our son for Christmas when he was 13 months old. At first he would play the music and loved that but I had to turn the base for him when he sat on it. He is now 19 months old and still loves to play with it. He is now able to spin himself, but not very fast yet. My 5 year old son also likes to play on it (so do the younger neighbor kids). My 5 year old is average size and still has a lot of fun, it doesn't seem terribly small - he just sits "indian style" on it. You do have to be a little careful though, the base does spin easily when toddlers stand on it and my son has fallen a couple of times (but no injuries).
