Toys and Games Reviews of Playskool Magic Screen Palm LearnerCustomer Review: Basic and Not Overwhelming! Summary: 5 Stars
My daughter received this as a gift when she was 3 years old. It is a very basic toy, but she loved it. The stylus doesn't do much but that's okay. The blue screen in the center shows the letters of the alphabet (or numbers 1 thru 10) one at a time in bright led lights and a happy voice announces the names of the letters and numbers. At the end of the alphabet a little "hurray" sound is played. It is very simple, but my daughter loved taking it in the car. I know she loved the sound of the sing-song voice, even if it is a bit loud. I sincerely believe this really helped my daughter learn her alphabet as she loved to sing along with it. I would definitely recommend this to a friend. The only flaw I see in the toy is that there is no off button or volume low/high, otherwise it's a cute stocking stuffer or travel toy!
Customer Review: skip this one! Summary: 1 Stars
I found this toy at the family dollar store for about [...] and it looked fun...it is boring, non-interactive, and it does the abc song but not with the right rhythm. I too have had it speak to me when I least expect it. I am shocked at all of the great reviews--it is definately one that I would have skipped! For a toddler, there are many 'soft' toys that teach letters and numbers or colors (soft toys make less dangerous projectiles when a 2 yr. old decides to throw!!) like the leappad caterpiller that has been the BEST toy for the car since birth and still today.[...] or for an 'electronic' look alike, the baby einstein music player
Customer Review: fun and educational, but.. Summary: 4 Stars
My almost 2 year old son loves this toy, and so do I, for several reasons.
Pros: 1) It's a great size for the diaper bag or car. 2) He has learned to count and say "A B C D" at an early age, possibly with the help of this toy. 3) He loves to use the stylus to "write" on the screen.
Cons: 1) It has NO OFF switch or volume button which has resulted in hearing a strange voice speak to me while I'm getting the diaper bag out of the car. 2) That voice from inside the toy... did I mention it's strange? Even a tad creepy perhaps.
Overall, a great addition to your child's toy box.
Customer Review: Great toy Summary: 5 Stars
I bought this for my 18 month old grandson and he loves it. It is very basic with the letters and numbers and the screen reminds me of something from the 80's (early computers) but that doesn't matter to my grandson. This is his favorite toy and plays with it all the time. The screen is very sensitive to touch and the buttons are easy for him to manipulate. He loves the stylus. I think he thinks he is just like dad now. Great toy for the price. I would highly recommend it.
Customer Review: A hit! Summary: 5 Stars
My daughter has loved this toy since she was 9 months old. It is very educational and practical. It was a good investment. It is very durable, it has survived many banging's and slamming's. I do have to keep a close eye on her with this toy because she likes to stick the stylus in her mouth and chew on it. It is rather long and my concern would be that she could choke herself. This is always a typical concern with smaller parts.
