Customer Review: NEAT PIRATE HIDE OUT...

Very nice pirate set. Very detailed. Afterall,... it is Playmobil. Lots of small parts/accesories (swords, hats, cuffs, scorpions, crabs,....). The box says 4+, but I'd advise 6 year, and older. (maybe 5, but not younger). I think there's too many small pieces,... this would have been constant concern if we got this for our son when he was 4. He's now 6,... and is more careful with his toys now. And won't loose them as easily as when he was 4. Also at 6 six they will have a more elaborated fantasy, to role play with a set such like this. They start create there own stories. I think at 4 they are still too young too use their fantasy for pirate role play.
I did expect the chest itself to be nicer, more realistic, .... upon receiving it I find it a bit on the simple side. But it's ok. The pirates and accesories self, are very detailed. Very nice. There's a lot of small parts. So many, I kept several apart, and stored. I feel the more pieces he has laying around, the easier he will loose them. He doesn't miss them (yet). Doesn't even know I have them. He still has a lot of parts to play with it. As I see, he's getting more elaborated with his play, and even more consciuos for tiding up, and storing the items, I will get him the stored parts.
The chest comes with two printed cartons, to insert at the side of the chest inside, so it will look like a beach or a cave. Which is pretty neat. The chest also doubles up as a storing unit. But I provided Ziplock plastic bags, or Glad, to store the small parts. Although he won't use them. He just dumps everything in the chest.
This is a very neat set. But if you are interested in getting a playmobil pirates set,... you may want to save a little more and get the Playmobil Large Pirate Ship. Afterall,... what's a pirate without his pirate ship! The large pirate ship is really really cool! The smaller ships like Playmobil Red Corsair is also nice,... you could get one of those,... but if you have the space, and can save for it,... I really advise the large ship. Once you have a ship,.. then go for the treasure chest or perhaps the Playmobil Soldier Fortress with Lighthouse. And the Playmobil: The Secret of Pirate Island is also a very nice addition. Will get their fantasy rolling.
