My 6 year old son got this for Christmas and has had no problem with it coming apart. Every now and then a sail or flag will be pulled off by the younger ones (4 and 2) but he can put them back on himself. I waited until he was six because of the other reviews that it falls apart and I think that helped. I also put up some of the smallest peices but not all. Maybe when he is a bit older and the other kids are too.Customer Review: Pirateships

Not a bad product compared to some of the other pirate ships I have purchased...Others, come apart and are useless withing a day or two after the child plays with it...this pirate ship is alittle more solid but still has pieces that come off continually and you have to keep gathering them up and putting the ship back together...Pirates come apart..arms and heads...not good for small children.Customer Review: Too many pieces

Our 5-year old grandson was thrilled when he opened this gift. But the number of pieces, combined with the complexity of the assembly required the efforts of both grandfather and father. Actually, this was a good thing - the intergenerational sharing of a task. The toy seems sturdy and could inspire lots of creative activity, but the the pieces are numerous and small and sure to get lost.Customer Review: Hunt for Treasure

I bought my son, who is almost 3, this ship and he absolutely loves it. He plays with it for hours. He is younger than is recomended (4 plus) but he is past the age of putting things in his mouth, so I am not worried. There is a lot of assembly involved, but we had fun putting it together and figuring out how everything works and where things are supposed to go. This toy was able to facinate and educate children ages 2-7 as soon as it was out of the box. The pirates are not mean spirited,and able to inspire wonderful imaginative play. Bought for my grandson age 3 but enjoyed by all my nephews. I ended up buying two, one for my grandson and one to keep in the toy box at my house. For the money you can't go wrong.
