Customer Review: Fun, but the age range is off

My son got this toy for his fifth birthday. He had been asking for a pirate ship for a long time, and I finally decided to buy him the best one I could find. They had this one, and it looked great, so I got it (unfortunately, it was about 20 dollars more expensive when I bought it than it is now!) It was not easy to assemble (it comes completely in pieces), but once we had it assembled it stayed that way for about a week. The anchor has a real string on it, and my son has taken to pulling it around by the anchor (it has wheels on the bottom of the ship) and loves playing with it. But the masts and big red flags came off the ship almost immediately. I would say that this toy is better suited for maybe an eight or nine year old.Customer Review: Great Fun

My son received this for Christmas 2005 and it is already a favorite. All children ages 11-4 are playing with it fighting over who gets to be which pirate. The assembly directions are horrible (maybe 2 stars) but you can muddle through. The problem with the directions is they are in picture format with no written explanation. It would help if there were both pictoral and written directions. We almost threw away an assembly piece. There is a curved styrofoam support that looks very much like packaging. All pieces seem to fit together fine and snuggly. "Super glue" will work on any that seem to come lose...just light light sabers on Star Wars toys. I'm surprised that one reviewer said this was hard to put together. I came here specifically to say how great Playmobil instructions were and how easy this ship was to assemble. It is so sturdy. My 4-year old loves it. Although it was not the top item on his Christmas list, it is by far the favorite gift. He has played with it for five days straight and he said yesterday, "I wish I could keep my pirate ship forever." There are many tiny pieces. I just pulled out a plastic box with lid and put them all in there. He loves changing hats and weapons and he loves the "glow-up" skeleton. You won't be disappointed if you purchase this.Customer Review: If you buy this toy.......

If you buy this toy for Christmas DO NOT open the box before you are ready to spend a big chunk of time assembling it. I gave the ship to my 6 year old last Christmas and it was out of the box before I knew it. The pieces ending up all over the place and the ship never got assembled. When we finally did get at least part of the ship together I found that it didn't stay together that well when played with. My three kids are all huge playmobile fans but if I bought this again I would glue everything together when putting it together.Customer Review: Great Pirate Ship!!!

This was our first Playmobil toy. My 5 year old son got it for Christmas last year and he loves it. Whenever he has friends over, it is one of the first things they play with. It has great detail and many features that encourages hours of creative play. This year for his birthday, we bought him the castle, the treasure chest and the pirate's cave. They were all hits! He now has a whole little fantasy world that he and his 8 year old sister spend hours playing with. Our family has DEFINITELY become huge Playmobil fans!
