Toys and Games Reviews of Playhut Thomas the Tank Train Engine Play TentCustomer Review: Every Grandma Should Have This Summary: 4 Stars
Kids should have special toys and special places at gramma's house. In my house it is the Thomas tent. My grandson will be five this month and I have had the tent for about two years. Sleepovers used to be a problem but how he sleeps in the Thomas tent and all is well. We have a play mat for sleeping and he adds pillow, his favorite blanket and a couple of stuffed animal "friends".
The smoke stack is a little problematic but no big deal. The reviews are correct about folding it up into the bag -- it doesn't. It stores flat in the closet however and is always available for a gramma date. It unfolds and pops up instantly. I have had no durability problems and I have even set it up on the lawn for neighbor children.
I love this product.
Customer Review: Thomas has no bottom! Summary: 3 Stars
I excitedly purchased this tent for my Thomas-the-Train-obsessed 2&1/2 year old, thinking I would just replace the 'ball pit' I had--essentially a child's play tent with plastic balls in it for kids to play in. Needless to say, I was quite disappointed when I realized, after putting up the tent, that there is no bottom to Thomas! So when I put all of the balls in the tent, they do not stay there, especially when my son crawls in. It's cute enough, and sure, it's Thomas, but it's not very durable and moves around very, very easily--and it has no bottom! Essentially it's just a three-sided train. For that reason alone I give it only three stars. And the instructions are very vague, but like I said, more disappointed than anything.
Customer Review: Fun even when They outgrow Thomas..... Summary: 5 Stars
My now 7 year old still plays in this tent. its still big enough for him to crawl into, and the fact that you can compress it down to just about nothing in size makes it that much more enjoyable. I used it one halloween as a costume (and I am 6 ft tall) and it was hilarious. I have all his toy trains packed up, as he doesn't play with them anymore, but this tent, which pops open and can be popped closed pretty quick too, still gets a lot of play. Its durable as hell, as we have had it over 3 years. its been lysol'ed , chlorox wiped, lysol wiped, Handiwiped, washed with a wet wash cloth, and the colors don't fade. Its been wrestled in, laid on, jumped on (by the cat) and the fabric and spring steel has held up really well.
Customer Review: A Must for any Thomas Fan! Summary: 4 Stars
My little guy just loves this. It is very compact when folded up and actually fits next to my sons entertainment center in a tiny little slit between the center and wall. It is a nice size when unfolded. As stated below in another review we did notice a funny smell after opening it at first but it quickly dissapeard. Actually when we folded it up to store I just stuck a downy sheet in between one of the folds and that helped right away!
It is actually roomy enough to have an adult sitting inside on one end and a child on the other end. We love it here! It's a nice quiet place for our son to go to read books...and sometimes he likes to peak out the front of the train and watch a Thomas Video!
Customer Review: For 20 bucks how can you beat it? Summary: 5 Stars
My 2 year old loves this. It's his little fort, he takes in a blanket a toy and a sippy cup and just hangs out in there. Often he start saying "Choo choo Thomas" and other random things to Thomas. It's easy to put up and down and while the instructions don't tell you how to put on the smoke stack or the support for that section it was very easy to figure out. It's fairly big, which is good because it gives him room to do stuff in there. I don't like that it tips over easily but that comes with the type of toy, not this particular one. I gave it 5 stars because of it's price, ease of use, low profile while closed away and my sons excitement about it. I would recommend it with no real hesitations.
