Toys and Games Reviews of Playhut Thomas the Tank Train Engine Play Tent

Customer Review: Captures the kids attention immediately
Summary: 4 Stars

I got this for my friend's son (a 3 year old) for his birthday. The gift was an instant hit with the kid. It served as a play tent - "his own home" - as well as a huge train he could actually get into and play. He was thrilled. The colors were also bright and nice and that added to the attraction. It has a sun roof and windows through which the kid can see you and that helps as well.

The tent is quite spacious that a kid and an adult (a slim adult) can actually get in and play. It took 30 seconds to open and set it up and so quite easy for the parents in terms of maintainability and maneuverability around the house.

In terms of durability I cannot comment since I got it just a week back so we will have to wait and watch. But it looks pretty durable to me!

Overall I would say this is a great gift for any kid!

Customer Review: Yet Another OverPriced Paper Playhut Product
Summary: 1 Stars

Buyer beware on all Playhut products online that don't specifically tell you what the material is! They used to promote the nylon they used and made sure it was in each product description. Now they don't even tell what the product is made from because they are using plastic and "paper like" materials and selling them for the same price as durable NYLON. augh! I can wash my old Playhut things easily. They air dry and can be used for years. Try getting this junk wet and a finger could easy go right through it. The same warning goes for buying Playhut in the stores. Make sure you open it and SEE what it is made out of before you buy it. Playhut should be ashamed of what they are doing to their reputation. Cutting corners to add to their profits is losing customers who didn't mind paying more for quality but they refuse to pay more for trash!

Customer Review: ya got to get this for a thomas lover!!
Summary: 5 Stars

My 4 year old grandson is obsessed with thomas..he owns the trains, dvds, books..you name it he has it..even a thomas hat..anyway when i surprised him at bedtime with a thomas tent..he was so excited..i mean so excited he was speechless..needless to say..he has not slept in his bed since i surprised him with this..he has dragged all of his favorite stuffed animals into the tent..especially at bedtime, even likes to have his meals in this tent..BUT, to unpack it is no problem, the material spot cleans well, however trying to fold it to fit in the carrying case has been the challenge for this grandma...reading the instructions is no help, so i fold it enough to fit in the closet when my grandson's gone home..this is a great toy for a kid, his infatuation with thomas and hours of make believe play...buy it it's worth it in so many ways!!

Customer Review: Fun for Young Kids
Summary: 4 Stars

My daughter is a huge Thomas fan. She got this tent when she was 2. Now she's 3, and still likes to play and read in it. It's made mainly out of some sort of synthetic cloth, not woven or knit, a bit like very thin felt. There are a lot of windows in it, made of cloth mesh. It stays very compact for storage (except the smokestack won't flatten) and is easy to set up; it pops open since the edges have wire hoops in them (like a windshield sun shade), and there is a plastic strut that pops straight with elastic and holds up the boiler. The hoops occasionally get twisted though, and it's kind of annoying to get them back to normal. The smokestack attaches with little Velcro tabs that are hard to push onto a soft tent surface and don't hold on very well, but the tent is generally a good thing to get any Thomas fan.

Customer Review: Very nice for pretend play
Summary: 4 Stars

This very lightweight, space-saving Thomas playhut is superb for kids who wanna pretend-play with Thomas the tank engine. My only big concern is that the wire frames are not the most sturdy that I've seen, and therefore make sure your kids don't get too excited in there. Otherwise, the joins may snap and the ends of those thin wires could lead to serious injuries.

Another glitch: Since my kids love this so much, they would "drive" Thomas around. But the center bottom wire could trip their feet easily, and my kids have suffered their share of bumping into TV set, or get tripped and bam their heads into the sofa, etc. So, adult's close-supervision is critical.

When kids play this with discipline, this toy could be the best $25 you could spend nowadays.
