Santa got this for my 7 year old for XMAS. What a bummer. I had the screwdriver and the super glue out to make repairs before we even got the thing set up. The construction is flimsy. The lens is terrible. The software is rudimentary.
Great idea just poor execution. My 5 year old got The Bionic eye and that seems much more usable and durable.

I was very dissatisfied with the quality of this microscope. It was nearly impossible to see into without squinting. It hurt my eyes and you couldn't make out what any of the slides were supposed to be. The base was also very wobbly and it felt like it was going to fall off in my hand. I sent it back the same day I received it!!Customer Review: Fine looking, not very functional.

Product is not very functional as a microscope. Focus ajustment is too course with excesive play to get any good detail. The software does not work under WinXP and the internet link to Planet Toys is bad. Company appears to be out of business. Price is worth the web cam you get thougth, a HP Starter Cam.Customer Review: Piece of junk

Very disappointing. Doesn't work as promised. It is nearly impossible to focus the microscope so that you can actually see something. We use a pc and were not able to get the software to work properly. Useless!
Don't buy this, you will be wasting your money. Invest in a real microscope.

Package arrived complete. However, the microscope cannot be used with Vista. I tried multiple drivers from HP and from hardware manufacturer. None worked. It does not work in compatability mode either. This thing is so obsolete, the web site linked from the software is a dead link.
