I bought this for a 10 year old, who was very hesitant at first to play something so "basic" looking. Now though, she asks to play this game over many others. It involves looking and thinking ahead, very much like chess, but is easier to learn because there is only one direction for movement. This particular version was well made too, with large enough "stones" so that they do not get lost easily.Customer Review: Great for everyone

I started out by buying the small travel Mancala which has various rules. My 6 year old grandson & I learned how to play the game together, now at age 8 he beats me all the time. It's a great game, we use a variety of rules which make it even more interesting. I purchased this bigger game for myself & then another one for my daughter's family. THIS GAME IS GREAT. I'M 28 AND THE LAST TIME I PLAYED THIS GAME WAS ABOUT MORE THAN 2O YEARS AGO. THE ONLY DIFFERENCE WAS WE USED A MUCH BIGGER, MORE CUPS, AND MORE GEMS (BACK THEN, WE USED ROCKS, MARBLES, SEEDS, OR SEASHELLS). I WAS SURPRISED WHEN I SAW THIS GAME AT [a local retailer] BECAUSE IT WAS JUST TOO SMALL. IT WAS STILL A GREAT GAME. IT BROUGHT BACK MEMORIES OF ALMOST 3 DECADES AGO.Customer Review: Fun

A great and interesting and fun game. It is really fun to play. At first it may take a while to get used to playing the game, but after a while you will get used to it and you will be a pro. I have to admit that after playing it for a long time it gets borring. Although its fun to play when you are bored. Be careful because its easy loosing the peices.Customer Review: Fun for everyone!

This is my family's favorite game. It's a fun game no matter what the age mix. My kids (5 and 8) can not only play against each other without help from adults, but they are also fierce competition for we older/wiser (ha!) folks. The game is great for honing strategy skills and working the brain, but is somehow also very simple.
