Toys and Games Reviews of Risk: Lord of the Rings Edition

Customer Review: True to Risk, but not to Middle Earth
Summary: 2 Stars

First of all, it is a decent game, but there are some glaring flaws.

The first thing i noticed when i looked at the map is that there is NO GONDOR OR MORDOR! That's like having a standard Risk map without the continents of Asia and Australia. Unthinkable. The map itself looks unfinished in the south, which could mean they hope to make a second edition of this game and just connect the two maps.

The LotR rules of leaders and missions make this game play like Castle Risk, which is fine. You also have the option to play the game with standard Risk rules. This too, is fine, except there can be only four players.

Buyer beware.

Customer Review: Is There More To Come?
Summary: 5 Stars

If you liked risk as a kid, this is a great update.
Its much more challenging, with mountains and rivers blocking paths unlike risk, and the adventure cards add a whole new dimension. My question is, since the board obviously neglects Gondor and Morder, original risk supported 6 players, and the gameboard shows a seaborn attack route that goes off the south end of the board, will there be an expansion to this game after the 3rd film releases? I sure hope so, because as is, the game feels incomplete!

Customer Review: A truly enjoyable game.
Summary: 5 Stars

I am pretty new to the game of Risk, but I still found the interesting innovations placed in the Lord of the Rings version to be well worth the money. The map now has mountains and rivers that cannot be crossed <unless there is a bridge on the river> There are also fotresses and "heroes" that add bonuses to your rolls for added advantages in certain fights. All these things add new dimensions to the strategy you can formulate to win. if your a Risk fan already, Lord of the Rings Risk is a good buy.

Customer Review: the dark hood
Summary: 5 Stars

i played this game and found it to be a little evil. roger wilco is evil, keep looking to the light when u find urself in evilness. the RM clan will save us from the dark lord, RM Smurf known as the DarkHoodlum is on his quest from the future to track the rapture child who was prophesised to have invented roger wilco. some say he is the darklord (the rapture child..not hood, hood is somewhat virginal and innocent)walking as the soulless cloned child born on rapture day. hunter is a monkeyboy.

Customer Review: DON'T BE DUPED!!!
Summary: 5 Stars

There are TWO editions of Lord of the Rings: Risk. The latest version is called "Lord of the Rings: Risk - Trilogy Edition." It features a full map of middle earth, including Gondor and Mordor, as well as new missions, strongholds, etc.

Though this is a great game for any LOTR and Risk fan, don't fall victim to this lowball marketing ploy. Both editions were the exact same price when I saw them recently at a toystore - and boy did I kick myself for not waiting on the full version!
