Customer Review: My kid thinks it's almost as much fun as I do.

Considering the price, I was a bit leery, but I was so disappointed with the absolute junk I kept finding at the local "toys n' stuff" store, I thought I'd give this tent a chance. That and the fact that my son got a Pacific Play Tents tunnel for his first birthday.
I am quite pleased with the quality of this tent. No, you shouldn't use it when attempting to summit Everest. In fact, I don't plan on using it for anything other than indoor play as the ceiling is mesh and there is no rain fly. No, I wasn't expecting one. Heck, there aren't even any tent stakes to step on.
The materials are very good for this price point: the walls are thin but sufficiently strong nylon with enough give and stretch that they can take a hit from a rambunctious little kid, or even a pack of them. The ceiling of the tent is made of the ubiquitous no-see-em mesh as found on "real" tents. Don't get too excited about this tent's ability to keep out the beasties though, as the door flaps are held with about half-a-dozen squares of Velcro spaced about every 8 to 10 inches along the door flaps' perimeters. What the mesh ceiling does provide though is a spot for Dad to peak down into the tent and make stupid faces at his son.
The tent poles, two of them, are shock-corded fiberglass, and should be more than strong enough for reasonable play in my estimate. Finally the floor of the tent is a coated nylon material that appears to be water tight, but doesn't look like it wraps up high enough on the sides to keep the walls dry in tall, wet grass. The floor is the only drawback to the tent that I have found: it's noisy, making a loud crinkly sound when crawling around on it. It's no Sun Chips bag mind you and wouldn't stop me from buying this product again, but it's very obvious when someone is in the tent.
The Pacific Play Tents Find Me Multi Color 6' Tunnel mates perfectly with the round opening opposite of the tent flaps. If you do not have a tunnel (trust me, order it at the same time as the tent, it's worth it) there is a flap that drops down over the porthole. This is fun in its own right, creating an escape hatch out of the back of the tent.
The most surprising part of this product for me was something small that I bet most people would never, ever notice: the Velcro tabs used to hold the flap doors shut have had their corners chamfered. Each corner, instead of being tiny and pokey, has been nipped off at a 45 degree angle so as not to scratch me, er, my son when he is playing in the tent.
And speaking of playing in the tent, I'm over six feet tall and way on the wrong side of 200 pounds and can I can fit myself inside this tent without any problems. It's roughly a 4-foot cube, so it's surprisingly roomy inside, allowing enough space for a kiddo, a Tonka or two, a ball, the blankie, and Dad. But don't get me wrong, I can't stand up in it nor am going to hike into Glacier National Park with it, but it is definitely worth buying for the price.
