Toys and Games Reviews of Spin AroundCustomer Review: Memories Summary: 4 Stars
I bought this after looking at the reviews for the Sit n Spin.(the real Sit n Spins don't get great reviews) I chose this particular model because it was like the Sit n Spins used to be when I was a kid-I loved them, surely my children would love it too. They do like it. In fact, sometimes they fight over who gets to ride it! (Guess I should have bought 2)
To me, it's not as fast as they used to be (or maybe it wasn't that good then but I was a kid and it was cool anyway), it's not very good on carpet but then I'm not riding it. (Please let me know when an adult size is available :) )
Overall, it is a toy that my kids really like and really I would purchase again.
UPDATE: All the fighting over it took it's toll. They broke the column that links the handle to the seat dispint the durablity (I have really rough children). So I called Kaplan, to see about a replacement part. They were so great that they sent me a BRAND NEW ONE!!! They didn't even charge me shipping. I would definatley recommend this item and Kaplan Learning Company.
Customer Review: 1 year old and 4 year old both love it! Summary: 5 Stars
I bought this for Christmas this past year (2009). It was a gift for both of my sons to use, ages 15 months and 4 years. I remembered using one as a kid and thinking it was really fun. I also thought this would be something they could use together and cooperate.
Boy, was this the PERFECT gift! Out of all the gifts, some being way more expensive, this seemed to be a favorite! Both kids sat on it together and spin and spin and crack up laughing. They think it's so fun.
I didn't know if my 15 month old could do it himself, and at first he couldn't. But he tried and tried and in 2 weeks or so he was able to start spinning himself. They love it and I highly recommend it. Although I haven't had this quite yet a month, it has held up perfectly.
Customer Review: Junk Summary: 1 Stars
I bought this for my 3 year old because I remember the sit and spin I had as a child. I had so much fun with that thing, and played with it up until I was at least 8 years old. This thing is a cheap imitation at something like half the size, and can barely even spin with my child sitting on it. It is made from some pretty flimsy plastic compared with the original product. I am so disappointed in the current state of most children's toys right now. Most things are just junk when you compare them with toys that were manufactured in the 70's and 80's. Not to go off topic, but my 3 favorite toys from childhood, the sit n spin, the hippity hop ball, and the hungry hungry hippos game all now have pitifully pale imitations of what they once were. Such a shame.
Customer Review: Remember Sit 'n Spin? Summary: 5 Stars
When my children were small in the mid-late 70's I bought them the toy then known as a Sit N Spin, one of the very best toy investments I ever made. There is a similar product out now but has an oval seating area that does not work nearly so well as the original so my daughter and I have searched for something closer to the old product. This is it! I bought this for my 15 month old grandson, anticipating that he would take some time learning to "spin" it; he has grasped the concept very well already and is having great fun with it. His older sister, age 4, is having even more fun and the two can sit and spin together, if arranged just right. Excellent toy, much fun, and teaches coordination...and sharing!
Customer Review: Lame Summary: 3 Stars
As most people have said before, this is not the same toy from the 70's. It is much, much smaller and shorter (the pole is lower than the original). It's a lot lighter weight too. Not saying that because this is lighter weight it will break easier, I just think the heavier ones would spin faster. I actually think the construction is good. Since assembling (4hrs ago), my 2yr old has played with it for a total of 5 minutes max. The price was low so I'm not unhappy about the purchase. The seller delivered this to me 2 days after order placement (thanks!). In summary, if you are looking for the real sit-n-spin go on EBay or Craigslist and get an old one. If you buy this know that it's not the same.
