I got this toy for my just turned 2 year old son. I had seen something similar months ago, but waited and got this product instead of the one I originally wanted, as the original was no longer available.
My Son loves my vacuum and he LOVES his now also. From the second he opened it he was in love. Even above all the other toys, which greatly surprised me. He needed that vacuum out of the package immediately and had so much fun pushing it around the yard, even though it did not have any batteries. He even went into his playhouse and cleaned it. When we brought all of his toys inside, he was still just as intrigued with it. I finally found a screwdriver to fit the small sized screw and put the batteries in. He loves the sound (not so loud and obnoxious as Dad and I assumed it would be)and the lights and everything. As did all my older nieces and nephews (8,6,4,3y/o). They loved that the vacuum went into a dust buster, and that it actually sucked up some things (like some dog hair, and little bits of paper.)I too, was hoping it would suck up more things, like the original vacuum I had found, but it is what it is. He still is obsessed with it though it has only been a week, but knowing him, I am sure this toy will last a long time with his interest.
I love that the colors are not too girly, as I am a proud believer in that you raise boys and girls the same when it come to taking care of themselves, but the neutral color will make it last a longer time. He might not care it is pink right now, but give it a year and he certainly might :(. I love how it teaches him to be independent and take responsibility, all while having fun.
I am nervous about the latch that holds the canister in place. Other reviews said that it broke, and I can see how, especially if your strong/older child is trying hard to get it together. It seems to be ok right now, but I am very concerned about that.
Overall, this is a great purchase so far, and while I was hoping to do my review at a later time to give a better example of it's longevity, I wanted to get it done before I never wrote one at all.
