Customer Review: Monster book? Monster gyp! Smaller than promised.

The product description claims that the "Harry Potter Monster Book" is 12 x 9 x 4 inches in size. The actual dimensions are much closer to 10 x 8 x 3 inches. Admittedly, it is hard to measure a fuzzy object precisely but I have posted images here which show a clear discrepancy between the advertised size and the actual dimensions. Also, the Warner Bros. web site offers the same product for just $15.95 (as of 10/20/2010) and lists the dimensions more honestly as 10.5 x 8.5 x 3 inches.Customer Review: Why So Expensive?

I don't understand why this product lists for $60 here on Amazon while it only costs around $20 at other websites, including the official Warner Brothers website. It's all the same item, licensed by NECA, you pull the tongue and it growls and vibrates. Buyer beware, and do your research before overpaying for this product.
Otherwise, for you Potterheads out there, this is a great addition to your collection of licensed HP products. Just don't pay too much for it!

I love the Monster Book of Monsters! I teach a Harry Potter class at a summer camp and this book was the hit with the students. They loved "stroking the spine" of the book and when they did, I pulled the tongue and made the book vibrate. I wish it had some fake writing on the inside, but, it's really neat. If you are a Harry Potter buff and you like neat items that resemble that which you've seen on the screen and read in the book, this item fits the bill nicely.Customer Review: Collector book

My daughter is a huge Harry Potter fan. I bought the book thinking it would spin around and snap it's pages like in the Harry Potter movie. It did none of that but when you pulled it's tongue the book shakes. My daughter didn't care she is a true Harry Potter fan and was just happy to display the book with her other collectables. The book itself is well made and is hard to fine for sale other places.Customer Review: Disappointing monster book

I got this book as a birthday present for a child who loves reading the Harry Potter series. Visually the "book" is wonderful. You're supposed to pull the tongue and it makes chomping noises like the monster book in the movie. Ours, however, made a humming noise like a toy on its last few seconds of a windup toy's ability. Again, if the visual means the most, as it did for us, then it's great.
