OK, let's get this straight right away. I'm not a fanboy and I didn't go to see '300' to watch the battles, or because it looks like Frank Miller's novel, or because it was awash in blood, or because it was a ground-breaking film technically. I was in that theater for one reason, and one reason only: GERARD BUTLER!! Gerry Butler is not only the finest actor working now, and one of the very best who has EVER graced stage or screen, he is also the hottest man on the planet. I'll sit for two hours and watch Gerry read the phone book if it comes to that. This action figure is quite likely to be the closest I ever come to him, but hey, what's a red-blooded woman to do when she has the opportunity to grab her favorite hunk? She grabs him, that's what! Even if it is a vicarious thrill, Gerry's now happily situated in my bedroom. Which of course is where he should be.
Buy this if you liked the film, but especially if you actually KNOW the names of the actors and aren't just mindlessly admiring the SFX. The figure is beautifully rendered and actually looks like GB. There was a lot more to '300' than just the blood and gore, but the fanboys missed it, as did the (male) reviewers. It was another tremendous performance from the man who should be at the top of the A-list by now. So, while I watch him climb, I can have a reminder of his talent (as if I needed one) in the form of the magnificent King Leonidas.
