Customer Review: YES, IT DOES PLAY CD/R'S...but other than that...

it's just so-so. I received this player and immediately took it to Radio Shack to purchase an adapter. I brought along a "burnt" cd to test how it would play the disc, and to my dismay it did not. But before boxing it up and returning it, I decided to contact the manufacturer/distributor to complain about not advertising this weakness. A rep emailed me back immediately (I'm giving an extra star for this...I was impressed) and said that it should play these discs as well as the "factory" cd's. So, I found a cheap adapter (didn't want to invest in batteries that would be unreturnable if it failed the 2nd time around) and lo and behold it worked! BUT...as stated by other reviewers, the microphones are useless, and it does sometimes tend to stop playing if moved around. This is supposed to be a Christmas present for my 3 year old granddaughter. Since it would be more trouble to return it (at my cost, I might add), and since my granddaughter will soon be "big sister" to twin brothers, I will send it to her along with all of the CD's I burnt! By the time the boys are old enough to inherit this, it won't matter to much if it gets trashed, and we'll know if she is going to be a music lover like her grandma and daddy! If so, I'll invest in a better unit next year! So, if you just want a cd player that looks like it belongs to a kid, this unit might be what you are looking for, although it is rather pricey for what it actually does. I'm curious to know if the Sing Along CD Player by Environ-Mental will play burnt cd's. I wish the manufacturers would include this info in the description. These days that's an important feature.
