Toys and Games Reviews of Qwirkle Board GameCustomer Review: Love this game! Summary: 5 Stars
We just got this game for Christmas. It seems to be a combination of Scrabble and Blokus. At first, it does not appear to be much of a challenge, however it becomes more challenging as the game moves along. We have now played this game with just the two of us, and with two other couples as well as with a six and 15 year old - all in various combinations. Everyone seems to love it! It is a 30 minute to 60 minute game on average, really seeming to depend upon how many are playing and how quickly they choose to take their turn. If you like games, this one is an interesting choice! Good Luck and hope you have as much fun with it as we have had so far.
Customer Review: Great Game for Adults and Kids Summary: 5 Stars
This game arrived very promptly and was well packaged. These grandparents had to try it immediately. We found it quite interesting and in its way challenging. Our four going five in November granddaughter and her parents arrived for the week-end. She found it fun--we didn't keep score--and I am sure we will play this with her many times in the future. She like her father thoroughly enjoys games. The adults also wanted to play the game again later after she went to bed and repeated the experience another time as well. Our son likened it to Scrabble (never his favorite game) without the letters--it least that was his excuse when we our scores were higher than his.
Customer Review: Awesome Game! Summary: 5 Stars
This is our household favorite game. Got it in 09 for christmas and a year later we still love it. Our 6 old has no problem playing tough. He has learned to strategize and look ahead for future plays. It is a game that would be difficult for my 6 and 8 year old to play together without an adult because they would have trouble keeping score (although a good math lesson in it self!). Other than that.. it's great for mixed ages, just adults, etc. Based on matching shapes and sizes so I bet younger children could easily jump in too. I have bought it for several people as gifts this year for Christmas and we are going to try the Qwirkle cubes game next.
Customer Review: Easy to learn and challenging to play Summary: 4 Stars
This game only takes about 5-10 minutes to learn. Your strategy for play will change as others make their plays, which keeps it interesting. A great game for all ages, even if all of them don't read very well yet.
My only complaint is that the tiles are not painted as brightly as shown on the box. The yellow is more chartreuse (yuck) and the orange is not very bright. If your tiles are in shadow in front of you on the table, they're not visually very acute. Our table has overhead lighting, so it's a bit of a pain.
I kind of wish they had made the paint design thicker so these were actually more tactile, as described.
Customer Review: Great game! Summary: 5 Stars
Received this game yesterday and played it last night at our ladies (all over 30) game night, everyone loved it! In fact one of the ladies called after she got home to ask me to order her one. Can't wait to play it with my family, I think my children will like it as well.
The game is a combo of luck (what tiles you pick from the bag) and strategy but mostly strategy. It's all how you play your tiles as to how many points you get so one has to think a bit which is a good thing.
I think this is a game we'll come back to time and again. If you are questioning as to whether or not to buy it go ahead you'll not be sorry.
