when i heard that there was a lord of the rings trivia game, i was pretty excited, but then i found out that it was only based on the movies. While i admit that the movies are indeed the only reason i read the books at all, i think that there is much much more challenging and fun trivia to be drawn from the books instead of the movies. make a book based lord of the rings game and i'll play it. but not if it's only movie based, since so much was changed and left out from the movies.

Don't expect this to be a game about the books, it is strictly about the movies. And if you have seen the movies at least once, chances are you will be able to answer every single question without difficulty. There is no challenge and the questions are frequently silly. It also seems to only cover the the first 2 movies. If you are big on movie trivia, then maybe you will like this, but otherwise, beware. I loved the movies, but this is a bit much and a waste of money.Customer Review: Fun, even for kids

We got this as a present from some friends and have enjoyed playing it. It is based on the extended edition films along with all the behind the scenes you find on the addition disks.Our older kids have liked playing this as well. The 9 year old and the 7 year old did really well recalling different things from the movie. So this doesn't have to be just an adult game.
There is also a game out based on the books for those that are more interested in that.

The only thing is you really have to have alot of knowledge about all things LOTR. There are some questions that are pretty easy but then there are the really obscure questions. ( Like, What spiecies of moth is used in the Orthanc Tower scene with Gandalf.) So you really have to know your stuff.It is fun for the LOTR enthusiast, but it may be limited to just that demographic. Still I love it and get a great deal of pleasure out of playing it.Customer Review: Another great Rings Tie-In for Rings Addicts

The games it set up to cover all three movies. It's a great way for addicts to see just how much they were actually paying attention. One gripe, is it only comes with one set of questions. Really would be great if they had included a second or even third set.Some of the questions obviously come from the extended version of the DVD.
So be nice and make us another set or two of questions to keep the game from getting stale.
