Customer Review: A Craven Money Grab

A terrific disappointment. This game, unlike all of the other Trivial Pursuit games, includes a slim half-box of questions (compared to 2 full boxes for questions for other Trivial Pursuit games). Furthermore, the questions are geared toward movie minutae (for example, how many days did Sean Astin have to wear his hobbit feet? Who cares?) Tolkien's created universe is so wonderfully rich and complex, and I was looking forward to really testing my knowledge of elvish lore and Rohirrim geneology and the like. This game, however, ignores most of the mythology and the events in the novels, focusing instead on the films. Don't waste your time or your money.Customer Review: Waaaaay Too Easy

One daughter and I played against the other daughter and her husband. We went first and completed the game on the first try. Then they took their turn and also completed the game. The questions are about the movie versions only, and none of us has seen the third movie yet, but the answers were obvious either from the books or from the way the questions were set up.If they ever come out with a Trivial Pursuit based on both the movies and the books--or on the books alone--with questions aimed at those who are very familiar with the material, I would buy it. This version is not something I would recommend for adults or for obsessive fans of any age.

I was very excited about this game and bought it for my birthday. I was disappointed to find only one box of questions and only movie trivia. I am a Tolkien fan, though not as much of a purist as I could be, and wanted to have fun. I have played it twice now and have finished the games in less than 30 minutes, having played with people who know the movies as well or better than I do. The only category that gives us pause is the Film and Production category.Overall, a good product but there should be more questions and it should have been combined with questions from the book.

This game was more fun than other trivial pursuit games. In my house we gather around the table and play trival pursuit 6 hrs later half of us only have one or two pie slices. I always wondered where in the world did they come up with these questions and who would know the answers! BUT NOT WITH THIS GAME!!! Everyone had fun because we knew most of the answers. We did not get bored. We argued about different scenes in the movie and had an over all great time. This game allows you to emjoy the fact that "hey I actually know that" instead of "What?!?" The "Lord of the Rings" Trivial Pursuit game is a great way to have fun with the movies, especially if you aren't very familiar with them. However, there aren't many questions from the books; the focus of the game is entirely on the three movies. This means that if you're a bigger Tolkien buff, you won't be very challenged; I and my friends went through the whole game in an evening and knew almost every question. Overall, it's good for those who want a movie-oriented game, but if you know very much about Tolkien, you're wasting money buying this; you'll know it all already.
