Toys and Games Reviews of Jenga Truth or Dare Game by Milton Bradley

Customer Review: Only fun with the right players.
Summary: 3 Stars

Unless you have players that are truly into the game of truth or dare, Jenga TorD will end being played just like the original Jenga.

You play this game just like the original Jenga, picking blocks from the stack and placing them on top. The twist is that there are red and black blocks each asking a question in which you're to tell the truth to, or asking you to physically do something (a Dare). Now with the right players this is a great concept because at some point someone is going to have to choose that "dare" block, and you get to see some pretty funny stuff. However, if it is a conservative group you're playing with, you'll end up not doing anything daring and just continue playing regular Jenga... which in my opinion is no fun at all.

Oh yeah, there are some blocks that are left blank so that you can put your own questions if you want (or do what I did and write different "shots" to take).

The bottom line, if you and your friends are risque... then this is the Jenga for you. If not, go for the original Jenga.

Customer Review: Cute, but mostly harmless.
Summary: 3 Stars

It really is pretty amusing, if you're an adult or close to it. The questions and dares are either PG, as noted, or unanswerable. Who in their right mind would give a truthful answer to "What was your most embarassing moment" in front of people they want to be able to face in the morning? But that's all curable, with imagination and a lead pencil.

The real flaw I found with this game is that the natural blocks and painted blocks have slightly different thicknesses, so the Jenga part of the game is unstable and dissatisfying. I'm something of a purist, though, still hoping for a perfect 54-story Jenga. If you don't mind quick blameless toppling by innocent hands, it may not be a terrible defect.

(My partial solution has been to remove the natural blocks and replace them with the yellow or blue painted blocks from my old Throw-N-Go Jenga set, which works okay. But I don't like to reward bad design with extra sales, so I can't recommend that avenue wholeheartedly.)

Customer Review: A great party game, or an ice breaker for meetings
Summary: 5 Stars

We played this game as an icebreaker for the strategic planning retreat of a non-profit I'm involved with. I knew about the basic Jenga game, but this grown-up version mixes that with wonderful "dares" ("Slow dance with a broom") or questions ("Have you ever left the house without underwear? Details!") The truth and dare blocks are red and black; if you happen to get a natural-colored block, which are blank, you hand it to another player of your choice, and that player gets to make up their own question or dare for you to do. The next time I saw my fellow board members after the retreat, at least three of them had bought or at least priced the game.

Customer Review: Cute but not for Kids......
Summary: 3 Stars

This is a cute game but not at all appropriate for children. The "Truth and Dare" parts of this game are absolutely directed at adults, even if terribly cheesy. ("Whats your favorite battery powered toy?" "Remove an item of clothing" "Sit on the lap of the person to the left of you until your next turn")My kids play it and we modify the dares but they are pre-readers so we can, fortunately, get away with it. Its wooden blocks, you stack them. Simple.
