Toys and Games Reviews of Mighty MindCustomer Review: Son Loves This Toy Summary: 5 Stars
I bought this toy for Christmas for my son, who will soon be turning 3. I am amazed at how much he LOVES this toy. Everyday he asks me if we can play with the "shape cards," and it is the one toy that he most wants to play with. I am very surprised how much he likes this toy. It's been great because he didn't know his shapes that well before, but after playing with the cards, he now knows his shapes, and for him, he has no idea that he's learning. He's just having fun putting the shapes together.
There are a total of 30 cards in all, and we can get up to about card 18 right now. The first 18 tell you exactly what shapes you need to make the picture. After that, you have to figure it out for yourself, so I think it will be awhile before he can figure that out on his own. I'm sure that's why the product is up to age 8.
The only downside to the product is that eventually after he's done the cards enough, it'll become too easy, and then the product won't be as exciting for him. It looks like they sell additional products, but they are geared to 5 year olds.
All in all, I am very pleased with this purchase.
Customer Review: Great Game Summary: 5 Stars
I was searching for a game that my 3yr old could play with me on rainy days and came upon Mighty Minds. I was hesitant because I thought he would lose interest fast but decided to give a try because he needs to start learning about matching and patterns. As soon as we opened the box he was interested the shapes, then we started with the patterns and he loved playing the game! We played the game for 20 mins and if it weren't for bedtime I think that he would have played longer.
With that being said, I do think that it is not for a child under the age of 3 which is what the game recommends. I teach pre-school and some children are still very interested in putting object in their mouths and so it should be cautioned that the shapes are a choking hazard. Really this game is wonderful for spending time with your child and I don't think I would leave my son to do this game by himself until he is older because I know he might try to put the shapes in his mouth.
I am thinking that this is going to be the gift that I give for all my friends children who are 3 and older for birthdays and etc. My family really loves this game!
Customer Review: Essential Kids Learning Game Summary: 5 Stars
My daughter received this for her fourth birthday and took to it very quickly. She has great spatial relations skills but is often too busy to sit through all 30 something cards--which doesn't matter because they are numbered and easy to pick up and play with throughout the day. I advise helping more active young ones by sitting with them throughout the activity--and giving little verbal cues, if needed (like "try turning that shape around" and "now you're on number 18!" Let them find the shapes they need rather than providing them. This game is very easy to understand and explain to your child; once your child seems to have mastered this set, there is a Mighty Mind Challenger Book (see package insert for ordering info) and then the Super Mind (more advanced) Game. Hours of quiet time for the self-entertaining focused types, good co-play game for parent and child or multiple children (who can cooperate or play side-by-side). Go for it! This is worth the money.
Customer Review: Fantastic Play Alone Game Summary: 5 Stars
I homeschool my kids and I bought this to keep my youngest kidlet (3) busy and happy while I was doing school with his older brothers. It was an instant hit! The only problem is that the older boys (6 & 12) want to stop and play with it too. I realized yesterday that it's time to get more tiles and more challenges. When my 3 year old accomplished his first pattern (2 half circles to make one circle) he had a smile from ear to ear and said, "I wanna do it again, Mommy!" and he said that after every card that he completed until they got too hard and then he was content to watch his brothers do the harder ones. I am excited to get our new tiles and more patterns. I might order the magnetic set for my 3 year old to help him keep his tiles in place as he fumbles around as well as being able to take them on an airplane for educational fun in the sky!Magnetic MightyMind
Customer Review: The Best Birthday Gift Summary: 5 Stars
My son received Mighty Mind as a gift when he turned four. This is the best present he received. The game teaches basic skills such as counting, sorting by shape, color, and size as well as more difficult problem solving and design skills. The game is composed of wooden geometric shapes in primary colors, and cards printed with designs which need to be re-created using the wooden shapes. The series of cards starts out easily, asking the child to create simple shapes, such as a circle out of two semi-circles or a diamond out of two triangles. The game gets progressively more difficult as the designs become more complex (including a train, house, person, spaceship, and large geometric shapes). The game also teaches manual dexterity as the child must carefully place the shapes on the card to create the larger designs. We enjoy playing Mighty Mind together and especially enjoy giving it as a birthday present to all of his friends.
