My four year-old girl has really enjoyed this puzzle. After putting it together the first time she pretended to jump into it the way that they jumped into the chalk drawings in Mary Poppins. She has done the puzzle three times since then. We also gave the same puzzle to her 3 year-old cousin (male) who wasn't very excited (at first) to get a puzzle for Christmas until he realized that the finished product would be almost as big as he was. I bought this for my 4 1/2 year old son who absolutely loves the planets. He is able to put it together himself and it is challenging enough to keep him busy for a while. I liked it so much that we bought another one as a gift for the 5 year old next door who is now beginning to take an interest in the planets. The pieces are thicker than a regular puzzle so it is a bit more durable than a regular puzzle. I would definitely buy more Melissa & Doug floor puzzles.
