Customer Review: Great Starter Puzzle for the younger crowd!

My daughter is only 2 years old, but she was sort of coasting with the smaller children's puzzle. So I bought this puzzle and the fish aquarium for her from Melissa & Doug. I later added the floor puzzles for the dinosaurs and firetruck. I happen to think my daughter is pretty bright (what parent doesnt?) so I bought her this puzzle even though the age range starts at 3 years old. I would say that, of the bunch, my daughter clearly prefers this farm puzzle, mostly because I think she can do it herself.
The first time or two she required guidance, but now she has recognized and memorized the pattern. The farm puzzle has fewer pieces (32 pieces) than most other Melissa and Doug Floor Puzzles. What is great is that the objects in the puzzle are separated out a bit more so it's easier for a child to identify it's proper placement. Pretty much each piece has an identifying feature, like a horse nose, bird, hay, etc. Also the objects in the puzzles are more distinct from one another in that fishes can look like fishes whereas a cow does not look like a pig. It's great because she will look for each animal as well as the windows, lantern, hay, etc. to figure out the puzzle.
It's very durable and I can compare it to another brand (with the thomas puzzle) and the pieces on this puzzle are much thicker and durable and lock in place better. Anyhow, I would highly recommend this puzzle to anyone looking for a challenge to their little ones and, if by chance, you are looking for a younger one (younger than 3), I would say start with this one.
