I bought this set because it was too cute. I am a speech therapist and find that my language delayed young students love it. They love the cutting action and I have gotten "between" and "around" out of them (the seaweed wraps "around" the sushi). If your child like velco (and who doesn't?) this will provide many hours of fun!Customer Review: Great purchase

I bought this toy for my four year old nephew, who loves to cook and loves sushi. This was perfect. I was very impressed with the quality (as all Melissa and Doug products) and he kept himself entertained for quite awhile by taking our orders and making different varieties of sushi. We got this for my almost 2 year old son for Christmas and he loves it. He wants to "cut sushi" all the time. He also carries the chopsticks around and tries to pick up other things with them.
The wooden pieces are durable and a great size for little fingers to pick up. I would absolutely recommend this toy!

I bought one for my 5 & 4 year olds who love going out for Japanese food and they just love serving sushi to their friends when they come to the house!
I also bought one as a shower gift for a friend who adopted a 1 year old from China and everyone at the shower just loved it and thought it was so unique!

Our family has all sorts of food toys, and many of our Melissa and Doug food toys are played with again and again. They are cute, durable, and offer different foods then we see in other sets. The sushi set can be velcroed together in different combinations and while we had it for a few years it still gets playtime.
