I bought this puzzle for my 3 year old son who was fascinated with planets and space stuff. I have never been so impressed with a toy purchase. You really can't find a better puzzle for kids. The pieces are quite large, and they're very durable. They also are "wipeable" in case sticky fingers get a hold of them. The picture itself is very colorful and pleasing to the eye. It shows all the planets, and includes the moon and sun. Even the asteroid belt. It's a great puzzle, and a great educational toy. I intend to get more puzzles from this company. Simply outstanding. This is the fourth M&D jigsaw puzzle we have purchased for my son (he just turned 3). They are a challenge, but a managable one. He gets a great sense of accomplishment when he finishes, and we get to identify the objects in the picture-another learning opportunity. The pieces are big enough for him to handle easily and they typically divide in such a way that it isn't too hard for him to find a match. Great opportunity for semi-guided learning through play. Very satisfied with the construction and quality of the puzzles as well.Customer Review: PLUTO IS MISSING

BOUGHT THIS PUZZLE WHEN IT WAS ON SALE FROM AMAZON.THE QUALITY OF THE PUZZLE IS GOOD. THE PIECES ARE A NICE SIZE AND SEEM LIKE IT WOULD LAST LONG. THE DOWNSIDE IS THAT PLUTO IS MISSING (AT LEAST ON MY PUZZLE) AND THE PLANETS ARE NOT LINED UP IN ORDER SO IT LOOKS LIKE A MESS IN OUTER SPACE!THAT MEANS, IT LOSES OUT ON THE EDUCATIONAL VALUE. WHICH IS WHY I RATED IT 2 STARS.TO MAXIMIZE THE BENEFIT OF THIS PUZZLE, MELISSA AND DOUG SHOULD HAVE PAID MORE EMPHASIS ON THE LAYOUT OF THE PLANETS RATHER THAN THE COLORS AND EFFECTS.

My 2 1/2 year old daughter played with this puzzle at a friend's house who's a year older than she, and even though she needed help, I was really surprised that she stuck with it the whole time and really was involved. The colors are really nice, the pieces are just the right size for little ones, it's durable, and not overwhelming. She's already learning all the planet names, which I think is pretty cool. You really can't go wrong with Melissa and Doug. I ended up buying one for each of her friends' birthdays this year.Customer Review: Jump into Space

My four year-old girl has really enjoyed this puzzle. After putting it together the first time she pretended to jump into it the way that they jumped into the chalk drawings in Mary Poppins. She has done the puzzle three times since then. We also gave the same puzzle to her 3 year-old cousin (male) who wasn't very excited (at first) to get a puzzle for Christmas until he realized that the finished product would be almost as big as he was. He has also reallty enjoyed it and put it together on his own several times.
