Customer Review: Great for learning lowercase letters and early reading

Our 3yr son loves these puzzles and can do them fairly quickly. Though he can't spell the words yet, he is gradually learning which letters he needs to for each puzzle and I'm sure will soon learn that "cat" spells cat and so on. As others have mentioned, I do wish there was a cover for the letter storage area. We kept the plastic cover from the packaging, but it's flimsy and keeps falling off.Customer Review: Excllent for playing and learning

bought this for my boyfriends son when he was 2. although he didn't know his letters that well at the time it was fun for him to do with his father as a learning activity. by 2 1/2 he was able to recognize words like cat, dog and bird and then put them with the corresponding puzzle. at 3 he loves doing the puzzle on his own. excellent toy, excelling learning tool, as melissa and doug tend to be!Customer Review: Great for teaching basic words

This product is great to teach spelling and reading to young ones. The wooden boards and letters are very durable are easy to handle by small hands. The only downfall was that it does not come with a cover so the storage area for the letters is open. I am still trying to figure out what to do to keep the letters from getting lost without putting them in a separate place than the boards.Customer Review: Learning Fun

My 3 year old is into spelling things and learning lowercase letters. (Has uppercase down.) What a perfect item. I bought it a while ago to save for when she was read/a rainy day. We recently took it out and it has been quite a hit. Even when we arent doing the puzzle, she is looking at and talking about the letters. My nephew has it too and he loves it. The letters seem ok (they don't seem super durable) and the boards are very colorful. I was missing one of the alphabets and called Melissa & DOug who promised to send the missing alphabet over but havent done so yet.
My 3 year old seems to enjoy playing with it- I am mainly going to use it to familiarize him with the small letters since he has already mastered the capital letters.
