I ordered this because of the great price, and because we needed some way to store all of our 2 year old's puzzles. I didn't see anywhere if it would hold puzzles that have the little 'handle' for the child to pick up the piece (the little plastic peg), so I just ordered it to find out if it would work. It holds them perfectly! We have 9 puzzles in it now (7 with pegs, 2 without) and they all fit great, with room for 3 more. Some other reviews says it won't fit Melissa & Doug puzzles, but we have several in there, so maybe it just won't hold the very thick ones with sounds, or those with very large handles or something, but ours all fit fine. It is neat and easy storage, so we aren't always taking out 10 puzzles, when we only want to do one. You can't just shove them back in the rack quickly, without looking, or they could miss the slot, but having to focus and put them in slowly is great for my 2 year old to practice putting things away correctly. He has no problem using it, and has a renewed interest in his puzzles now!Customer Review: Disappointed ... but found a solution

I have a wooden Melissa & Doug puzzle rack and I needed another one. I decided to save money by getting the metal rack instead. I was very disappointed when it arrived and it doesn't hold my puzzles well. The rack is too wide for our wooden puzzles to stay on the "shelves" properly. One side of the puzzle will fall down to the shelf below, and none of my children were able to get the puzzles on the shelves themselves.
It was very frustrating, and disappointing, as I've grown to love Melissa & Doug products. I was ready to send it back when I decided to try to squeeze the front edges inward to see if the puzzles would stay on better if the front edge weren't so wide. It has worked, though I think I'll probably have to do it again from time to time.
My solution will work, but I do not really recommend this product. Save yourself some frustration and buy the wooden rack instead! The wooden rack has been problem-free for us for well over 5 years.

I put off buying a puzzle organizer because I didn't want to spend the money, but I'm glad I finally got this one. It neatly organized almost all of our puzzles, so now we can actually slide out one at a time instead of just having them piled up and either only playing with the top few or ending up with a big mess when the pile gets dumped. The organizer is simple and sturdy, easy to use, and holds most wooden puzzles (even non-M&D ones) as well as the flatter cardboard style puzzles (I fit 3 of those in one slot). It is by far the least expensive type of puzzle organizer I found, and does the job, so I would highly recommend it. I do keep it up out of reach of my 18 month old, but by the time she is old enough to learn to just play with one puzzle at a time, she should be able to slide them in and out herself I would think.Customer Review: Great idea, but not well-executed

I wanted a way to store my 2-year-old's wooden puzzles (mostly made by Melissa and Doug) so that they would be organized and she could access them as needed. So far I've been pretty frustrated with this wire storage.
It doesn't seem to fit puzzles well and they get stuck when taking them in and out of the slots. I can deal with this (although it's annoying) but my daughter is pretty much unable to remove and store the puzzles because they do not go in and out smoothly.
Also, it slides around on the shelf, making it even more difficult to remove and put back the puzzles.
So, great idea, but needs some adjustments so it really works.

Melissa & Doug wooden toys and puzzles are wonderful! They are simple and durable allowing room for your child's personal imagination and creativity without spinning your child into over-stimulation mode as so many toys can do today! They have so many neat puzzles for various ages of development, and this rack is the perfect way to keep them organized and stored efficiently. There are also wooden puzzle racks available, but this wire rack is the least expensive and it does the job! You can store one of the thicker Melissa & Doug Puzzles (like the ones that make noise) on top of the rack, since they are too thick for the slots.
