Customer Review: Bored with baby puzzles

My 2.5 year old was getting way too bored with all the peg puzzles, and the ones where you just have to match the piece to the picture underneath. We got him this puzzle, and it is perfect. Just challenging enough that he doesn't get frustrated, but it also takes him some time to put it together (about 5 minutes), but not so hard that he can't do it. He does this puzzle several times a day, and likely just has it memorized now, but I still take the pieces out and mix them all up for him, and he loves to do this puzzle again and again. Even if he has it memorized, it still makes him think. It is a great puzzle for when your kids are ready for a puzzle that doesn't have the picture underneath. He now understands about the 4 'corner' pieces, and how to identify a piece that belongs on the border, by looking for the flat side. He groups the pieces together by looking at the colors and by figuring out which dinosaur they belong to. I like that the board underneath is more like a tray, and it has a gap of about a 1/2" on the bottom and sides so that the puzzle isn't squeezed in like a frame, it allows them some room to try putting the pieces in different ways, and they won't get jammed in there. We will be purchasing more Melissa and Doug 24 piece puzzles in the future.
