Customer Review: Love the attention to detail!

I recently got this for my 2.5 year old son. He loves playing with it and pretends to eat the slices. I like how all the pieces have velcro. Nothing frustrates my son more than when things fall apart on him and I can imagine the upsetting tantrum he would have if the toppings fell of the slices as he walks with a plate of pizza from one place to another. I also love the wooden box it comes with. It makes it easy to store, especially with the side compartments for the extra pieces.
Made of solid wood, very durable. I did not have any issues with chemical smells as some have mentioned, but I did not buy it online so the chemical scent could have gone away from sitting on the shelf. He has tried to "eat" the pizza and it has gone in his mouth but no chipped paint. The pizza cutter and spatula are great bonuses.

I just got this for my 2 1/2 year old daughter. She loves to play with it. She experiments with different toppings and loves to 'serve' us pizza when she's done 'cooking' it in her play kitchen. She really likes to cut with the little pizza cutter included.
We've only had it a few days so I can't comment on durability but it seems to me that it will hold up fine. I think the paint will eventually start to wear and I suppose after repeated use, the velcro might become weakened but other than that I see no negatives with this toy. For the price, it was well worth it. She will get a lot of use from this I think.
Well made too - my daughter is pretty rough with her toys and since this is all wood construction (even the box is thick wood) it will stand up to her abuse.

Anyone who owns any Melissa and Doug toys knows that they are educational, fun and DURABLE! This pizza set is no exception. Kids love to "cook", and this is a great way for them to do it. It can be a super-helpful toy if Mom or Dad needs a minute to cook dinner and wants to occupy the children and keep them out from underfoot while they do it.... set them up at the table and let them make a pizza! Heck, even let them put it on the table and "serve" it with dinner!
These toys are so worth the cost... which is relatively cheap, if you think about the fact that these will never break and they'll be played with for much longer than other skimpy plastic toys. Treat your kids to this great playset made with quality long-lasting materials. Wonderful!

Another winner from Melissa & Doug! This pizza set is durable and provides hours of play opportunities. Pizza can be customized with favorite toppings (provided you like mushrooms, peppers or pepperoni) and there are enough of each of these pieces that the whole pizza can have 1, 2 or all 3 toppings.
Box is durable and provides places to store all parts of the set.
There is no top to the box so it is not spill-proof. Older sets used to include a clear plexi-plastic cover that slid onto the box. It was a mistake to omit that feature. Still, with all the play time this set is sure to get, you probably won't have to worry about spilling.

I purchased this for my niece as a gift and she really enjoys playing with it. The pizza can be 'cut' up using the little pizza cutter, and the toppings can be put on the pizza in groups of 3 per piece.
As far as quality goes, this toy is top notch. The toy itself is very durable. The toppings (pepperoni, mushroom, and peppers) don't have cheap little stickers on them that can easily fall off and are likely not to ever fall off. The pizza and toppings are held together by Velcro which from what I can tell, isn't held together with some cheap glue. I plan to buy more products for my niece from the Melissa & Doug toy line.
