Customer Review: Sad little plastic toys...DISPLAY only...dont waste your $$$

we received this set as a gift for our then 2 1/2 year old son. I was really excited because we love all the Melissa & Doug puzzles and he loves horses! After about 1 week of playing with them, several of the horse's "coats" began to peel off the plastic toy. So now we were left with a sad display case (empty) and several sad little bald horses all over the play room. I think this would be nice for DISPLAY only. For horse lovers, buy some inexpensive ones at your local Big Lots and save the $$ for the well made items.Customer Review: Fun for the price!

My two year old loves these! The horses aren't particularly well built, but for the price I think it is perfect for her. She doesn't put toys in her mouth, and she's not at all concerned about "fuzz" wearing off. She just loves to play with her little ponies. My only complaint is that one of the horses isn't stable - I even have troubles making it stand. But there are plenty others to play with. The case is very solid and a great bonus ... this is one toy that my daughter seems to enjoy cleaning up when she's done!Customer Review: Fun, but not the highest quality

My 6-year-old adores this set of horses. She even took it to school today for show-and-tell. And I love how each horse is of a different breed, and the information it provides on the back of the box about each breed. The box is of a nice, wooden construction, but the horses themselves are not of the type of durable quality that I would expect from Melissa and Doug. After only a day or two, the fur on one of them started coming off a little bit. But other than that, this is a pretty good product.Customer Review: Darling toy for the child who loves horses. This horse "display" is not meant for (most) toddlers as they may put them in their mouths or be a bit rough. My 8 yr old granddaughter, who cherishes her horse-toys, loves this shadowbox display of horses and plays with them more "responsibly". I find that it was a good value. The sellers also ship very quickly. It was very well packaged and the toy was in perfectly, new condition. I note they have a lot of quality items, not just senseless toys, on their list of toys. I purchased this for my little 4 year old niece and she absolutely adores it. It has a little shadowbox, each box has a back set, and each type of horse is described on the back of the shadow box. The horses are plastic, but have fur. She is particularly careful with her things, so I'm not sure of their durability, and the horses could be easily scattered throughout the house and lost, causing lots of pathos - but for the child who is a collector of horses, it's a good gift.
