Toys and Games Reviews of Melissa & Doug Magnetic Wooden NumbersCustomer Review: Love these magnets! Summary: 5 Stars
I ordered a set of these and a set of the alphabet magnets for both my son and my nephew. The biggest thing I like about these, compared to the plastic letter/number magnets, is that the magnet coveres the whole back of the letter/number. This allows them to stick much more securely than the kind that have just a small magnet on the back. The letters/numbers are about 2 inches tall and 1-2 inches wide, depending on the letter or number, so they are pretty similar in size to the commonly found plastic letters/numbers. I mention this because in the pictures they look a little bigger than that, but they're not. I'm really satisifed with these magnets and I'm happy that I found them!
Customer Review: Fun toy but construction quality is mediocre Summary: 4 Stars
This is a great toy to have, especially if you buy it with a magnetic white board to hang in the kids room. My 18 month old son loves playing with the numbers and alphabets, sorting them by color, lining them up like a choo choo train. He's still too young to recognize the letters, but as he grows older and learns the alphabet the toy will offer new games to play. However, the quality of construction is poor, when we received the box, some of the paint on the letters was falling off. I did not expect this given that it is from Melissa & Doug which is usually high quality.
Customer Review: Great magnetic number set Summary: 5 Stars
I like these numbers. The magnet is the whole back and they stick on nicely. My son enjoys playing with them and they have stood up well to a LOT of manhandling so far! The only minor drawback is the box. It is wood and can splinter, but it is easy enough to transfer them to another container if necessary. The slide lid can also slide off easily leading to spilling. Something that clipped or locked in place may be more secure.
Customer Review: Great magnetic numbers! Summary: 5 Stars
We bought these and the wooden letters for our son for xmas at 20 months. He loves them and now knew all his numbers and letters before age two...they continue to hold his interest and he plays with them on the fridge while I cook in the kitchen. Only downfall is he still likes to chew on them now and again and the paper coating is certainly not meant to be sucked on! (our fault, not the company's!)
Customer Review: M&D Numbers Summary: 4 Stars
Our 17th month is a little too young to understand mathematical concepts but enjoys placing the magnets on his board. The lid is easy for him to open (at his age too easy since he is still at the stage that dropping objects and making noise is the best activity). For a older child the lid will be great - easy to open and close. I would recommend this item.
