These are great!! The magnet covers the entire back of the letter so no more plastic alphabet all over my kitchen floor. The plastic ones constantly fall off the fridge - these wood ones are durable and strong! I like the wooden bin with sliding plexiglass cover as well to keep them contained. We got an easel for my 19 month old twin boys and these work great along with the M&D magnet animals for introducing words. I will be purchaing a second set for additional letters and spelling.Customer Review: Disappointed.

I bought these because I am usually very happy with M&D toys and was trying to avoid buying plastic. These letters were much thinner than I was expecting, and the magnets are pretty weak. They are difficult for my 2-year old to grab. The worst part about them is the colored paper front - I really thought they would be solid wood, painted over. Any drool or other liquid will quickly ruin these, as I quickly found out about ten minutes into play time. I am SO disappointed!

Very nice wooden set.
This Wooden set is Much better than the Plastic set we had. A few letters in the Plastic set never stuck on the fridge straight due to magnet placement. Also a few magnets fell out of the plastic letters.
This wooden set arrived with two letters stuck together with glue, a manufacturing defect. I called the company and described the issue. Replacement letters were sent out and arrived in just a few days. A very satisfied customer.

I ordered these for christmas gift and was expecting a bit better quality. The letters are wood but have paper covering that is colored. If these get wet the paper part starts to come off. I was a disappointed in quality of all Melissa and Doug products I ordered. Pkg. was nice and I like the little wood box they came in but I thought they should have been a painted rather than paper on front.
If I had to repurchase alphabets I would get different kind.

Our 2 year grandson enjoys taking these letters and working on new words to pronounce. It provides a great learning opportunity for him because older folks - grandparents, parents, aunts and uncles, nannies- can encourage him with new words that they think of rather than use flash cards that limit the child to one word per letter. I strongly enjoy the buyer to have something metal that the child can stick his letters and that this not be a refrigerator or stove.
