Customer Review: too many tiny pieces for a 16 month old

We gave this toy and the Melissa and Doug latches board for Christmas to my 16 month old son. We really loved the Melissa and Doug latch board a lot better. There are tiny pieces that go with this toy, and for that reason, I didn't like it. I had to take the pieces away from my son because he would just lose them otherwise. He likes this toy, but the Melissa and Doug latches board is much better. It is bigger and more interesting to play with. Both toys are well made. My son has played with the latches board so much though that he has made some of the edges wear just a little. No paint has chipped off of both toys. The Melissa and Doug farm board still looks brand new - mostly because my son won't play with it for very long. The board is very brightly colored and if you play with your child, you can bring out the pieces and open and close the farm doors. That didn't last though because all my son wanted to do was scatter the pieces. For a a child 15 - 18 months old, I don't recommend it. I would only buy the Melissa and Doug latches board for this age group.
