I bought this for my son, who is almost 3 years old, to help with his small muscle skills. To my surprise he was able to get the laces in and out of the holes on his first try, but it is a challenge. At this time he won't spend to0 much time sitting down with it - he's more interested in his computer laptop or playing dress up. But I think he will grow to enjoy it more over time. It's very cute, durable and retro looking. The animal illustrations remind me of the Little Golden Books of my early childhood.Customer Review: Great quality toy

My soon to be five year old daughter received these 10 months ago for Christmas. She still gets them out and plays with them regularly. I have even noticed my 8 year old son and his friends playing with them from time to time. The quality is great, too. I wasn't sure when I read in the description that they were made from a cardboard material, but they still look new and my kids tend to be hard on toys. I would have no problem giving them as a gift and recommend them to anyone considering them.Customer Review: Cute Shapes and Good Design

The Melissa & Doug lacing toys are small enough for young children to handle, but big enough for their hands to manipulate. The shapes are adorable.
They are especially inviting, so much so that I even want to play with them, because they are bright, cheerful and well built. Just like so many of the Melissa & Doug toys, they are built to last, and so much nicer to have around than toys made of cardboard. I love the fact that they don't bend or rip.

I got these for my two year old granddaughter, and it was a great purchase.
She plays with these every time she comes over, and gets better and better at laceing them. She knows which color lace matches the card, and won't put any other on.
They are made of a very durable material, and come in a little box for storage. Just wish it had a lid.
I would definately recomend this toy!!

I bought these for my four year old son with SPD and he loves it! Because the product is made of, what feels like, a very hard cardboard or soft wood, I know it's only a matter of time before they start to fall apart especially with as hard my son is on his toys, but then again, what toy isn't going to eventually do that? It will serve its purpose in the meantime.
