This would be such a great puzzle IF it were actually hand-painted and made of wood. I read the other reviews and I think the design of the puzzle must have changed. I was so excited about this puzzle, and my kids love it. The only problem is that I'm about to throw it away after just a few weeks because the stickers on the pieces are all but gone. We have only used this puzzle gently and as intended. I'm very disappointed and now I don't trust the descriptions of Melissa and Doug puzzles.Customer Review: A really sweet puzzle

Our baby received this puzzle as a gift for her first birthday. In the last month, she's really enjoyed playing with the animals pieces and even occasionally matches them up.
Be warned though, they don't hold up to water. Our preschooler took a few of the pieces outside last night and they were rained on- the animals exposed to water are ruined (wood cracking and paint peeling).
We'll be replacing it though as it's such a fun little toy.

I bought this for my 10 month daughter. She's a little young to understand the toy's concept. Nevertheless she loves it very much. Each animal piece is chunky yet compact for her to hold, and she loves the bright colors. Fun way to teach them about farm animals. Her favorite is the cow! Overall, it is a must-have for any child in their early developmental years.
However I'm not so sure how durable or safe the paint is, as she is teething and bites on the pieces quite a bit...

This puzzle has been the source of many afternoons of play for my daughter. She LOVES this puzzle AND it helped her learn her farm animals and animal sounds. We gave it to her for her first birthday and she was a little young to actually manipulate the puzzle, but she still liked to play with the animals separately. Now, she's close to two and could do this with her eyes closed. The edges of the pieces look a little worn after a year, but all in all, it's been a GREAT toy!Customer Review: Great For Babies and Younger Toddlers

I initially bought this for my soon-to-be born baby girl, but when my 2 1/2 toddler saw it, he insisted on mommy opening it. He played with it for 10 minutes then got bored since it was too easy for him. However, we did use the pieces to help him remember the names of the animals and the sounds they make. He already knew most of the animals from his board books, but it helped having a 3 dimensional version that he can hold while making the sounds.
