Toys and Games Reviews of Melissa & Doug Deluxe Wooden Railway SetCustomer Review: A toy to grow with Summary: 5 Stars
I purchaed this set for my 2 1/2 year old daughter after my niece (4) and Nephew (2) got one. After all the research my sister did, she found it was the best buy for the money. It may lack some of finer details of a much more expensive, more popular wooden train set/character brand out there, but the rails are completely compatible, just as sturdy and the kids don't mind one bit.
And a side note to other parents, to avoid the mess of all the pieces, glue them down to the train table. Also, that way if you buy it for a younger child, they don't get frusterated with it getting knocked down and you're not constantly having to put back together for them.
Customer Review: SO WONDERFUL! Summary: 5 Stars
Two days after we got this product my husband said, "You've made a great purchase." Our 2 1/2 year old loves it! He's obsessed with Thomas, but we buy Brio tracks a lot because the Thomas ones are so expensive. Melissa and Doug tracks are a great fit with both of these. This set comes with so many pieces, and fun pieces too. I would buy another set to allow us to make an even bigger track, but the only room that would be big enough to hold any more tracks would be our family room, and I don't feel like tripping over tracks in every room of the house! The highly highly highly recommend this set though... for every little boys and girl who love to play trains.
Customer Review: Good quality and excellent value Summary: 5 Stars
Our son has been playing with this set for almost a year, since he was slightly over two, and I imagine this will remain his favorite toy for several more years. The set has provided countless hours of entertainment for him and quiet time for us. The quality is very good and I can't even imagine how much you would have to pay for the same number of pieces if you bought Thomas brand. My only complaint is I could not find any Melissa & Doug accessories, other than additional tracks, so we bought a couple of Thomas accessories to spice things up (which cost a third of the entire Melissa & Doug set price). Overall, we are extremely pleased with this purchase.
Customer Review: a happy 2 year old! Summary: 5 Stars
this set is the best value we could find and a better value still if you have a handy husband who wishes to build the train table as opposed to buying it! so, we feel like we win the bang for your buck prize. we even screwed it down (from below so the trains still go over it easily) so that our 2 year old wouldn't demolish the thing every 10 seconds (which requires immediate parental assistance from what i see at other homes). the top levels got gorilla glued down to the wooden blocks that hold them up, so we are sturdy and ready for action! our son is sooo happy to have his very own choo-choos and will get use out of this for a long time to come.
Customer Review: Wonderful product Summary: 5 Stars
We bought this for my son's 2nd birthday. He was so excited to open it and put it together. This is definately a toy that will last a long time. His 7 year old cousin has fun playing with him and so do his grandparents. It's a great toy for all ages. At first he knocked the bridges over a lot but he learned to be more careful and we learned to only make bridges sometimes. He is 32 months now and makes a playable track by himself and plays without needing our help. His tracks are incomplete but he makes a more elaborate one each time. We didn't get a table because we don't have the space and it's nice to put it away when he isn't palying with it.
