This is an excellent tool for building an understanding of color, shapes, and patterns. There is so much room for learning by using this toy! And best of all, it's fun! And, for us moms out there, keeping up with it is a breeze. It comes with it's own vinyl storage case, and who can beat magnetic pieces that stick to the board to ease your child's frustrations if the pieces don't "stay" where they are put. The pictures included are really cute - I especially enjoy the duck pattern - and my daughter loves putting them together. All-in-all a really wonderful (and cheap!) investment for hours and hours of fun, stimulating activity! Kudos yet again, Melissa & Doug, for a really great product.Customer Review: Fun, but not very portable....

As soon as I saw this product, I wanted to get it. The idea was wonderful...my child gets into a panic when pieces don't line up perfectly.
I love the patterns that came with it, but strangely, some of the pieces fit in an awkward fashion on there...they don't want to line up.
Also, the numerous tiny pieces make it difficult to keep them "corralled". I just used a baggie, but my intention was to take this along on car rides. I have a feeling these pieces will disappear quickly if we do that.
Overall, this is a great product, but it is definitely more for seat work. It is not as portable as I thought it would be.

Our baby is 2 years old. She loves this toy!! She is so happy that she can move whole picture with the board (to show her daddy results)!! Nothing comes off!! Pictures are clear and bright! Peaces are big enough to hold and put in place! Our baby is very happy!!! The only problem - the blue color is too dark and sometimes our baby thinks that this is black magnetic side and puts these parts wrong side down (they don't stick and she turns them around).. It's OK now, but it was a small problem in the very beginning.. Also, I would love to have more different shapes and colors!! Thank you!! The magnetic blocks, the well chosen patterns, and the variety of ways to use them make this an appropriate toy for even special needs early childhood. The range of learning skills encoumpassrs logic, art, math, problem-solving, and creativity, while being just plain fun! The storage is handy and makes it easy to pack and unpack the blocks, patterns and board. My two-year old special needs grandchildren enjoy playing and learning--each in their own way. Mom enjoys the easy pack up and storage.

When I ordered this puzzle there was a caveat that children under 3 would be confused. Well, my granddaughter loves this. Yes, you must sit down with your child and help her learn how to do use the puzzle pattern blocks. My granddaughter picked it up quickly and knows the names of most of the puzzles. She has begun testing new forms that are not laid out for her. There are a lot of pieces, so a child this young will need some help picking them up; hey, isn;t this what all grandmas do? Great for teaching geometric form names.
