I gave this beautiful castle to my granddaughter on her 3rd birthday, with the accompanying furniture, family, and horses. She had been opening gifts and hurrying on to the next one, but after opeing the castle, she just wanted to stop and play with it.
If your child uses a lot of imagination in their play, he/she will enjoy the many different ways to express themselves with this toy, and if they are not into imaginative play yet, this castle can certainly encourage many opportunities.
The construction was better than expected, but as a rule, I am not disappointed by Melissa and Doug products.

I purchased this castle last Christmas for my daughter who had just turned 4. She loves it and plays with it all the time! She uses the Disney figurines and plays forever running them around the castle. My son is three years younger and he likes to play with it along side her. It opens up wide enough for two children to easily play without getting in eachother's way. And I love that it folds up and doesn't take up a lot of room. It has so far survived a year with very minimal flaking of the pressed wood and no chipping of the paint or other breakage. This wooden castle has many great features, including the draw bridge and "jail" door and towers. The detail on the wood is not hand painted, but looks great anyway. It's a much better castle than most of the plastic castles on the market (in the same size range). This is a Christmas gift, so my daughter (3 years) hasn't used it yet, but I know it will keep her occupied with her Disney pricess figurines that fit perfectly. I only wish there were more options for furniture and figurines to purchase for the castle. I've only managed to find a couple of figurines, which is why I only gave it 4 stars.Customer Review: If quality at an affordale price is what you are looking for, look no further

You can always count on Melissa and Doug for quality products. Their Deluxe Wooden Folding Princess Castle will not disappoint. I purchased this product for my granddaughter's 3rd birthday and she was delighted. She actually caught a glimpse of it in my bedroom, before I could get it wrapped and there was no going back...she fell in love with it from the moment she saw it. Her 41/2 brother also could not stay away from it and he really is all boy. I truly think it will hold up to his 'boy' play. It is that well constructed. The Medival Catle will be a perfect gift for his 5th birthday!!Customer Review: A Must!

This is a superbly made wooden toy. The fact that it is well-made stands out the minute your child opens the box and is worth every penny spent. This was the hit toy at Christmas. My daughter, who is 4, plays with this castle every day and comes up with imaginative stories and adventures for the little castle people and their horses (I bought the castle set with the royal family and furniture). This is a toy that can help your child expand her imagination and also encourages an interest in history. I highly recommend this quality toy for any little girl!
