Toys and Games Reviews of Melissa & Doug Deluxe Wooden Folding Princess CastleCustomer Review: Lives up to the 5 star review Summary: 5 Stars
We bought this for our 3-year-old for Christmas. She went BONKERS when she saw it and seven months later its still her favorite toy. It is extremely well made and even though it is played with constantly nothing has broken or chipped, the paint still looks perfect and overall I am just very impressed with it. She likes to cram her beanie babies and other stuffed animals into the rooms and also the tiny set of Breyer horses, which are perfectly to scale for this castle. She is now deciding she likes legos and Matchbox cars and they go great with this castle too. She manages to make everything "work" with the castle, but the castle is always her main focus. I am so glad we got her this instead of a plain old doll house!
Customer Review: Gorgeous! Summary: 5 Stars
I am thrilled with this! Its exactly what the other reviews said it was, beautiful and sturdy. It is not garishly colored like a lot of the plastic castles out there for girls. I really expect it to last quite a while. I have kept in mind the furniture size issues reported by other reviewers and agree, the Playmobil stuff will fit perfectly. Polly Pocket dolls, or other 3-4" dolls will definitely fit this. After some reflection, I don't think the Loving Family ones will. My daughter has been wanting a dollhouse forever, and I just know she will be thrilled with this on Christmas morning. Definitely a great find for me. I was able to buy it from Amazon for $57 but saw it on other sites for over $100.
Customer Review: Yes buy it!!! Summary: 5 Stars
This castle is as beautiful as it looks, classy and NOT PLASTIC!!Solid wood, it is everything I was searching for: Durable (my 15 month old sits on it and climbs all over it and it is holding up like a champ since Christmas!! It is as if it was specifically designed for the little Disney 3" figurines that are all over my house nowadays. When it is opened/unfolded...it is literally 3 feet long and rivals (I should say exceeds) anything I saw in the toys stores this holiday season and a better price as well. I am just thrilled with it and literally jumped for joy like it was a present for me when it arrived in the mail and I opened it to find that it was EXACTLY what I was looking for. Just buy it mom!!!
Customer Review: Picture perfect princess castle Summary: 5 Stars
My 4 year old daughter loves her new castle! The quality is outstanding. The fact that the castle can be folded up works great for storing the figures. The Papo figures we bought separately (princess, king, unicorn, knights, etc.) fit well in the castle rooms and doorways. I would highly recommend this toy as it is wonderful for imaginative play.
Update 1 year later...the castle has had hours of play and still looks new. My son got a Melissa and Doug wooden castle too and it has also held up well. The castles are one of the favorite toys when friends come over to play. The boys love the Papo pirates, knights, horses and dragons while the girls love the princesses, unicorns and fairies.
Customer Review: The best toy ever for little girls Summary: 5 Stars
My daughter has played with this castle for 3 years straight now and it never gets old. Her friends all come over to play it too (she is 6 now). What you do is buy the small "polly pocket" Disney princess with the rubber dresses. They fit perfect. Then I used regular doll house furniture and miniatures from the craft store. It is so much fun to see the girls play with all the miniatures. They have all sorts of foods and dishes, etc. But true, the door ways and dolls are suitable for that size so watch what you buy to put into it. You may want to buy the castle first and then test furniture before spending a lot. It is awesome and a wonderful value. I love it.
