I have three kids: boy (9), girl(7), and boy (3). I bought this for my youngest last Christmas, and he and his 7 year old sister still play with it a year later. He loves the idea that he's allowed to use a "knife" to cut the fruit, and we've played countless games where we had to "feed" one of his toy animals, and of course he was more than willing to do the chore of chopping up the food. The wooden crate is handy for keeping all the pieces together though it doesn't come with any type of lid, and I have had no problems with the velcro not sticking like it should. My son did manage to chip one of the pears, but if you bang two wooden pieces together hard enough (as a boy is bound to do), that's just going to happen. I've been very happy with this toy, and plan on buying the sandwhich and maybe cookie set this year for Christmas.
