Customer Review: Better than expected!

My daughter has just turned two, and I bought this for her in hopes it may help her with her fine motor skills. I wavered on getting this one because of some of the 'poor quality' reviews...but I decided on it because stars are her favorite shapes. She's never been interested in any other threading games, and has never been a stacker of blocks (or anything else for that matter). She didn't seem very interested the first time I showed it to her. But then I put the box in front of her at the kitchen table while she was still in her seat. I figured it'd give her something to do since she was done eating and we weren't yet...I just kind of ignored her. We were pleasantly surprised when she just started stacking the blocks and naming the shapes while she was doing it. (circle, square, star...and then she said rectangle...I had no idea she knew that one!) So this toy is a massive win for us. Also, I've shown her how to thread the lace through and she is too young to get it through herself, but she now tries to get the lace into a piece by holding the piece with one hand and the lace with the other. When the gets it in the hole I move in and hold it there for her, (aka: help her) get it all the way through, and then she pulls the lace through once it peaks out a bit, while still holding the piece with one hand and pulling the lace with the other. She probably won't be doing it herself for a while yet, but this game has gotten her not only to stack, but to use both hands at once for a task. We've been trying to find something she would enjoy to help her with that skill, as she's historically only used one hand at a time on a given task. We've only had it a week and no paint has chipped yet...but I truly don't care if all the paint chips off of every single piece. This toy would still get 5 stars from me! :)
