Customer Review: Pretty good for inexpensive rack

This works pretty well if you want an inexpensive rack. Not all the puzzles will fit perfectly, and I definitely have more puzzles than slots.. But I wasn't willing to buy an expensive one like they have in day care - the big wooden ones work great because if pieces fall out they don't fall down to the puzzle below or get stuck and they are generous height-wise for each puzzle. On this wire one, my daughter had trouble at first putting the puzzles back in, but eventually she mastered it. In the meantime, I just told her to put them on the floor and I'll put them away later, as I find my set of puzzles work best in a particular order. I have some foam puzzles from the $1 rack at Target and I just shove them in on top of the chuncky puzzle with pegs because another wooden one doesn't really fit on top of it.
In summary, you get what you pay for... if you want an inexpensive solution that isn't perfect, you can try this and it may neaten up the area enough for you.

I bought this rack to clean up some of the mess from our collection of M&D chunky knob puzzles. However, most of our puzzles don't fit in the rack. They are all too narrow, and fall right through!. Examples of puzzles that don't fit are Melissa & Doug Deluxe Fish Bowl Jumbo Knob Puzzle, Melissa & Doug Deluxe Jungle Friends (Safari) Jumbo Knob, Melissa & Doug Pets Jumbo and Melissa & Doug Jumbo Knob First Shapes House Puzzle.
If M&D is going to make a rack that will hold chunky puzzles, it should have been simple to make the wires about an inch closer together to hold these puzzles that they also manufacture!

I don't own this puzzle rack yet, but I'm ordering it today and will alter my review if necessary, but I called Melissa and Doug today and they told me the exact sizes of puzzles that this puzzle rack holds.
Small Puzzles: Up to 12x9"
Large Puzzles: Up to 18x12"
Hope this helps some of you all wondering if this rack will work or not...I will update my review when I receive the rack in a few days!
Update: The puzzles I own do indeed fit perfectly! Obviously chunky puzzles may take up more than one space, but I only have thin puzzles and they fit great! The rack appears to be very sturdy and I regularly pick it up with the puzzles in it and move it around. No bending, breaking, or signs of weakness here! Love this puzzle rack, I am *very* glad that I made the purchase!

I read the bad reviews, but could not find an alternate option for storing these beautiful but unstackable puzzles. I decided to email Melissa and Doug with a list of my puzzles and asked them if they would fit. M&D got back to me promptly, and assured me the puzzles would fit. I directed them to the bad reviews and asked if they were sure that the rack would work for me and they reiterated that it would. I decided to order it, and am pleasantly surprised to say that all my puzzles fit , beautifully - chunky, peg, big knob, and even some non M&D ones. Everyone including my husband is really complimentary of the rack and how it solved a storage issue. I highly recommend it and am glad I gave it a chance.Customer Review: This Rack Rocks

I really like this rack. It is sturdy and it holds all of my daughter's puzzles (most of which are peg puzzles) except the M&D lock puzzle and the M&D See and Spell puzzle (the storage box is too big). Not every compartment is full yet so my husband simply cut up a plank of thin wood to lay across the lower racks to create shelves. This allows us to store her M&D Lace & Trace Pets and her M&D Lacing Beads - both of which would otherwise be too small to fit across the rack. We even have a few non-M&D puzzles in it and they fit just fine. It's so nice to have most of her puzzles now stacked neatly on a rack instead of piled under a table like before! I highly recommend it.
