Customer Review: Nice Fun Project

This is a very useful toy for my daughter and she enjoys it very much. However this is also the perfect girt for any husband who gets bored easily. I contacted Melissa and Doug after giving this product to my daughter who unfortunately was unable to make a mark on the chalk board, they soon replied and stated that I needed to follow there priming instructions before the chalk board could be used. they recommended that a light sanding before it could be used properly, so I handed this over to my husband who needless to say is still working on this after 2 weeks of "Light Sanding"... I have finally given in and am letting him work his magic, which will probably result in total reconstruction of this easel, I'm sure that it will look the same, somewhat, and will still be very durable but I'm afraid that the chalk board will be a complete disaster and I will have spent this money on my husband's new project instead of my daughter's birthday present!!!! WHAT HAPPENED TO MADE IN THE USA???Customer Review: This Easel and Companion set is Fantastic!!!

I just recently purchased The Melissa & Doug Easel and Companion set for my little girls and it's FANTASTIC!!! They love it it as do I. The quality for the price is great. It's a really nice looking unit too! I was pleasently surprised to see the quality of the companion set items too. The brushes are super nice. They don't look cheap at all. The eraser is most definitly made of very good material. I can't get over the quality of the chalks, it really has surpassed my expectations on quality even the colors are nice. The chalks are not as messy as I thought they would be and seem to last long too! My girls have been playing with the easel daily especially the chalkboard. They play with this easel more than any other toy they own. I feel very good about my purchasing this. I'm so glad I did and kind of wished I had gotten it sooner. I am also very thankful I have found this on Amazon before I had bought one of a lesser quality Easel and companion set items from a local toy shop!Customer Review: Wished we had this a long time ago!

My daughter received an easel from Christmas from her g-ma & g-pa. It was completely defective, cheaply and poorly made, and a waste of money. They got it at Toys R Us for about $32 out the door. We researched the best wooden art easels for kids and came up with the Melissa & Doug brand every time. The downfall was that it is so expensive every where (typically $80)...except Amazon. I got it for $43 out the door which included the free shipping option! What a deal! The only downfall was setting it up. It is a bit of a pain to do (probably best to do with help - I did on my own). It has 3 levels to set it at for smaller children to bigger children. It's sturdy and strong. The white board and chalk board are the best I've ever written on. Doesn't include roll of paper. Otherwise, AWESOME! I love it and look forward to using it with her! I would recommend this easel to anyone and everyone! And mostly recommend buying from Amazon if they have the same deal! A must buy for the 3 year olds
First, let me say that we got this for Christmas for our 2.5 year old boy. Our boy is very active and can be aggressive at times. This easel is made very sturdy and looks attractive as well.
I would strongly recommend this to anyone looking for an easel. Friends of ours have the crayola easel and have found it to be weaker than ours. A plus is that this easel is adjustable, meaning as your kids grow so does the easel's height. And I like that the paper is hidden in the middle of the A frame, it keeps it out of the way.
The chalk board is not a problem. I simply followed the directions that come in the box and "seasoned" our board. By coloring/rubbing chalk all over it and wipping it off.
I can't believe someone went the length of using a power sander on this easel... Really? I guess I'm skeptical and not sure why? Yes, that would certainly ruin this chalk board.

My boys (7,3) love this easel. They have had a blast coloring, drawing, painting, playing school, and many other things. The easel was easy to assemble, and all surfaces work great. The supply shelves are perfectly sized for the M&D paints and there's plenty of room for chalk and markers. The paint cups are great because they don't spill and do wipe off some of the excess paint. The paper roll is surprisingly easy to use, changing paper between masterpieces takes less than 30 seconds. The chalk board works great and is easy to clean. I read other reviews about chalkboard problems. They must have fixed this because my chalkboard came out of the box ready to use, no priming instructions and no problems with scratching or faint chalk. Overall, the easel is very sturdy and withstands the normal activity of my two.
Pretty much, I just had to put a vinyl shower curtain on the floor, set it up and let my boys go crazy. This toy gets daily use in our house.
