Customer Review: Fun, but not professional...

I got this for my 9 yo daughter who is in love with magic performances on TV. I had been looking for a more professional kit than the cheesy plastic trick packs they sell at Toys R Us. While this is much better than those, the tricks still have a sort of amateur look to them, and some of them would be downright impossible to pull off in a convincing manner to anyone above 6 years old. The manual also is only OK. It gives the basics of the mechanics of the trick, but there is nothing anywhere about theatricality and drawing the viewers attention and all the other 'tricks' professional magicians use to fool the audience. Overall, its a fun interesting starter for kids looking to play, but if your kid is looking for something more professional, (i.e. convincing tricks) might be better to look elsewhere.Customer Review: Tons of fun for 6 y/o girl

Bought this for my granddaughter for Christmas.
She loves magic, and this was a huge hit with her.
She caught on to all the tricks after being shown once, by her Dad.
She practiced on her own, for a couple of hours then late in the evening, she had a wonderful magic show for the family. She now wants to put on a magic show for her kindergarten class, and everyone else! lol!!
Well worth the money, The case and tricks are colorful and made of wood. Arrived quickly as does most everything from Amazon.
One trick was with larger numbers she couldn't do but overall this was a great product. She hasn't learn to add quite that good yet.
Well made, worth every cent, hours of fun. Engages the mind. Thanks Melissa and Doug for another excellent product!

My 8-year-old grandson was delighted that he could confound his parents with these tricks. After a run-through at Grandma's house, he was good enough to mystify them--and smart enough not to give away the secrets :) The tricks are well constructed and really fun (we found only one too complicated and one other a bit awkward). The overall quality of the set is outstanding--sturdy, well-designed, great decoration and most of the tricks are easy to master. The trick of guessing a chosen number from six tiles is truly a wonder. It improved his arithmetic skills and his parents never figured out how he did it. Most magic tricks in other sets are too hard to perform well and/or too obvious, so are not very fulfilling for the budding magician. This set is really clever.Customer Review: "Best Gift Ever"

Quality is great (solid wood), though we needed to do some touchup stitching on the bag. I got this for my 7-year-old nephew because I remember having great fun with a magic set when I was about that age (or a little older). He loves learning the tricks and showing to people with astonished looks on their faces. He may be slightly young for this in that he needs to work with an adult to help with his presentation skills, but it's a great little project for parent and child to work on together. Meanwhile, his 9-year-old sister (who loves performing in front of people) has also enjoyed learning the tricks and developing a more complex presentation. And their (almost) 5-year-old sister has deemed this as her siblings' "best gift ever".Customer Review: It COULD Be Fun...If It Were a Little Easier to Figure Out!

I bought this set for my 7 year old for Christmas. He really does like it, but we still haven't figured out how to do all of the tricks! The instructions a vague, at best, with little to no illustrations (which you really do need!).
Every so often he'll come downstairs to show me a new trick as he figures them out. I gave up trying after a half hour of the "invisible box."
I'm sure someone here has them all figured out...perhaps you could post some videos and show the rest of us?
Finally, don't let my review deter you from your purchase. This is a really well-built set for a decent price. If you are more talented in the magic department than I, you and your child will love it.
