Customer Review: Great way to introduce puzzles to you little one!

I bought this for my daughter when she was roughly a year old (11+ months). I figured she would be a little young for it, but it would be something she could work on and grow into. Boy was I wrong! She immediately took to the magnetic "fishing" aspect of this toy, and it encouraged her to continue to try to master the "puzzle" aspect of it. While she loved other shape sorting type activities, puzzles seemed to frustrate her. This toy changed that by allowing her to continue to try to match the shapes to their respective homes with much less frustration. I think the fact that she often played with the the puzzle by fishing the pieces out of the frame, allowed her to better visualize where they belonged when it came time to put them back where they belonged. In any case, she immediately took to this puzzle by playing with the magnetic "fishing" portion of it (all the while improving her hand-eye coordination), and has - over the months - mastered the ability to put it back together as well. She plays with it daily, and has since she got it, for the last year.
What's more, it is EXTREMELY durable!! This puzzle has had juice/milk/food spilled on it (only to quickly wipe clean), had the pieces and fishing wand stepped on several times (both by her and full grown adults), been dropped, and more. She has even tried to pull the facing off the pieces, thinking she could then re-use the graphics as "stickers" elsewhere - while this did result in a minor trip to the "Mommy Toy Hospital" for a quick application of super glue, you can't even tell it has been through "surgery". Throughout all this daily abuse it remains in extremely good condition. What a treat to find a toy that she maintains interest in and can stand up to her "loving"!!
