I am a fan of all the Melissa and Doug products, so I just had to purchase this for my toddlers. It's a great addition to their play kitchen, and they love to use their imagination to "bake" us a birthday cake. They even sing for us! The product is very durable, and packs away nicely. If you have any pets that shed, the velcro on each piece of the birthday cake may double as a magnet. We have a bit of dog hair on ours. Nonetheless, we've been very delighted with this product, and it continues to make our kids happy, happy, happy.Customer Review: An instant success!

I got this for my 2 and 1/2 year old daughter because she was singing happy birthday to everything, and making pretend cakes. This toy was an instant success. She loves decorating the cake differently, blowing out the candles, serving the cake, and watching everyone 'eat and enjoy' her creations! She had a little trouble cutting the pieces when it was new (the velcro was too sticky), but now that the velcro has been used a little, it is easier to cut, and she still has a ball playing with it. I picked this out as a Christmas gift for my 2 girls (ages 2&4) after reading the other reviews. Everyday is a birthday around here (teddy, puppy, dolly, etc..), so this toy gets a lot of use. It has been out just about everyday since Christmas, and I'd say it's one of their favorites. It does make nice sounds, the quality is great, and the storage box is a plus. At first there were issues with "sharing" the toy, but lately they have split the cake in half first, then they decorate their own half ! My 3yr, 4yr and 6yr old have been celebrating A LOT since they got this. There have been way too many parties in our house. My husband and I must be as old as the dinasours if you count how many birthday parties they have thrown in our honor! Needless to say, they love it!!! They enjoy placing the candles on the most and they love the fact that they can come into a room holding a lit up cake for someone. Guess what ladies....this cake truly is fat free!!! Gave this to my niece a few weeks ago for her 2nd birthday and she still loves playing with it. It's very well crafted out of wood and encourges her imagination and social skills to play with family and friends. She will even prop up her dolls and stuffed animals and have a tea & cake party with them. I have also noticed from singing the "Happy Birthday" song outload she now sings it by herself with the same melody and voice inflection we use when we sing the song. Overall, a nice item to be enjoyed over and over again.
