I purchased this set along with four other sets and a food stand for my son for his birthday. He wanted to open a store and sell things. He has really enjoyed making and selling his food to his brothers and his father and I. I hesitated to buy a Birthday cake but he had seen pictures of other wooden cakes and thought it looked like fun. I found this one at such a reasonable price (less then half of many I have found on line) and thought I might as well, he was thrilled to have a dessert to sell. It also can be just a cake and not have the birthday words on it.Customer Review: Very Disappointed

I bought this toy for my daughter's 5th birthday. By the end of the day, red paint had chipped off the cake platter and the velcro was pulling away from the sides of the cake slices. I thought my daughter and her 6-year-old sister would have a lot more fun with this toy. They love playing pretend house and store with their plastic foods, and they love having parties with their stuffed animals. They haven't played with this since the birthday. Also, I was disappointed that the wood tray didn't come with some sort of lid, even a plastic one. This toy was a bummer.Customer Review: Its party time.

Where my son goes to therapy at they have this toy and the equalivent the pizza party one by Melissa and Doug. So I decided on this one for home. He loves it and so do my girls. There ages are 6,4,3. The only problem I forsee with this toy is the obvious. It has small parts that are going to get lost. The parts are not choking hazards (in my opinion) my kids know better. But, they are easy to get lost. I make my kids play with it at the kitchen table and I make sure they put everything up with they are done with it. We haven't lost anything yet!Customer Review: Great idea, too many little pieces

My 2 yr old got this as a birthday gift since friends knew she would be getting a kitchen for Christmas. It is:
~ very durable
~ adorable
~ fun to play with
~ great gift
What my gripes are:
~ Toooooo many little pieces! Candles, and wooden circle to stick on the cake. I put most of them away for now, maybe later it will be fun and not just messy.
~ You can't take a slice out without ruing the cake . . . very frustrating for my toddler.
Would I buy it for someone else? Probably.

My kids love singing happy birthday and so this toy hit the spot. I have a 2 and 4 year old. They are constantly mixing the birthday cake and pizza pieces together and serving my husband and I dinner and dessert. They take the order for what toppings and learn to mix things too. The pieces are very durable and don't fall over. My dog even chewed on a piece and it didn't break, just mangled the paint. It is a little of a pain to clean up because of the pieces but they do stick together very well and don't come apart unless you pull on them.
