My son has the Pizza "puzzle" like this, and my 4-year-old nephew loves it. Instead of getting him the exact same one, we just got him the Birthday Cake kit for his 4th birthday. He loves it, too! My only complaint is some of the things to put on the cake (gumdrops?) are kind of random...
My nephew has cerebral palsy and has a hard time with any fine motor skills, and this has been great therapy for him, because he can learn to cut, put the decorations in specific places without having to fit them into jigsaw patterns as with a real puzzle, etc. I would recommend this to anyone with kids who have a similar case of CP.

We bought this as a Christmas gift for our almost 3 year old. She is now almost 4 and the toy has lasted quite well. Unfortunately, our black lab got a hold of one of the pieces of cake and chewed it up so the cake is short a slice. In addition, my daughter brought it outside to play and left a piece outside before some rain, so the paint is slightly chipping off of that slice. I suppose you have to expect that with a wooden toy. Regardless, I would buy this toy again as she plays with this more than any other of her kitchen toys. Will be buying her the slice and bake cookie set and cupcake set for Christmas this year!Customer Review: First toy she plays we everyday

We purchased this for my daughter's third birthday. She's in full time pre-school, but if she has a few minutes in the morning or evening, she always pulls this toy out to throw a birthday part for one of her stuffed animals. Each of the stuffed animals gets a party on the weekend. Six months later & this is still a huge hit. The toy is holding up well. I've seen no issues with chipping paint, but she does take good care of her toys & probably hasn't dropped any of the parts or pieces. It does have a lot of little parts & pieces, but that doesn't bother us because we teach her to clean up her toys herself.Customer Review: Great Toy, Needs a Better Storage Box

This is a great toy. My daughter got it for her 2nd birthday, and enjoys playing with it...whenever she can get it away from her 6 year old sister! It it an item that can be enjoyed on many levels and by many ages. My one complaint is the storage box. I don't understand why there is not a lid! It makes it difficult to store and stack with other food. I know it's a small thing, but are'nt we all looking for items that make our life easier? A simple flat lid that fastens on this toy would keep everything in place without making it necessary to use a plastic bag or another box.Customer Review: Um.. 50/50 here....

I like Melissa and Doug products. I bought THIS as my son's birthday is coming and he loved this at the library. It didn't seem to carry over at home. THERE IS NO PLASTIC LID. All the pieces fall out ALL the time. It's cute, but let your kids play with it at someone else's house.. and save your money on a better M&D product. Even if it had a lid, it would be better!!
Novelty wore after after about 10 minutes. Oh well. In the cupboard it goes.
( I took this to church with me, for the preschool class. NOT ONE CHILD PLAYED WITH IT OR SHOWED ANY INTEREST. )
