Customer Review: Blocks the way they're supposed to be

These blocks are larger than most. They're very durable. They're smooth and have rounded edges, but still fit together extremely well. The wooden box is itself a toy. I bought two sets, and all my children, from the elementary students to the toddler, love playing with them. One caution-- kids can build really high towers with them because they stack so well, which means more potential energy and greater force of impact when they fall. There's just the right balance between big pieces and little interestingly-shaped pieces, allowing for lots of creativity. These blocks seem really durable-- I expect that my grandkids will play with these blocks someday.Customer Review: WOW! hours and hours of entertainment

I bought these blocks as xmas gift for my 4 year old who played with only this toy all day and she is 6 now and there are still blocks laying around her room (much longer than any other toy I ever got her). I loved that the box it comes in acts as its box to keep the blocks organized. When you put the blocks away you have to arrange them to fit so its even a game to put them back. I had to get this for my nefew also and I would recommend you buy it for any child 6 and under because kids seem to just love these blocks! There are unlimited amount of ways to create buildings and castles and allow your child to broaden their imagination four HOURS!Customer Review: As with all Melissa & Doug products, this set of blocks is sturdy, educational & beautiful!

I purchased these blocks for my 2 daughters (2 yrs & 3.5 yrs old) for Christmas. This is a great set of blocks - large pieces, enough blocks to build a BIG castle, and very sturdy! I had first purchased a set of blocks of a different brand...but quickly returned them when I saw how small the pieces were and how little you actually got in the set. My husband loves to build big castles, houses, towers, etc. with the girls - if only we could get my 2 year old to stop knocking them down!
Overall, this is worth the investment...as always, Melissa & Doug have delivered a beautiful, educational toy that will hold up for many, many years!

The kids love it. Everyone should grow up with blocks such as these!! However, I think the box is cheaply made, and some of the beveled edges are a little more rounded than others. I don't think that is on purpose either. I'm very picky about my wooden products, though, as I know firsthand how they should be made. Great Christmas gift for a bitesized loved one nevertheless.
I love Melissa & Doug products because they seem sturdier and more well made than other toys. However, I am saddened that they have finally outsourced to China. This product smells strange, and it isn't a natural smell. I'm sure it will wear off soon.

We bought this for my almost-3-year-old, who was showing interest in blocks. We were looking for unpainted, durable wooden blocks that were large enough to not be a choking hazard for her baby sister. We went through tons of different blocks online and decided on these. These were perfect -- sturdy, large (the smallest is about 1.5"x1.5"x1.5", give or take a bit), varied in shape and size (there are tall cylinders, triangles, half-circles, regular squares and rectangles, arches), a good value and come in a big wooden box that pretty much tests my IQ by seeing how I can get them all to fit back in! I would highly recommend these.
