Toys and Games Reviews of Mega Bloks (80 pieces)Customer Review: Mega blocks - these are great! Summary: 5 Stars
These are great blocks for a small infant-to-toddler child to use to discover how to stack and build with Lego-style blocks. I agree that this set has a few odd pieces -- the train and the two "eyeball" end pieces are kind of just distractions -- but overall this is a great set of toy blocks. I was looking online to get a second set.
I actually think that the ease with which they come apart (noted in another review) is a big plus: a small child doesn't want necessarily something permanent and indestructible, instead they may want something that they can tear down and play with over and over... the easier the better. It's not like the things you build with these blocks just falls apart... it's just that they can be dismantled easily, which is good for little people with small, weak hands. Remember how tightly those Legos you played with as a kid stuck together? How's a one- or a two-year old supposed to do anything with those? I'd say get the Legos when they are older... these are great for now!
Customer Review: We LOVE Megablocks!!! Summary: 5 Stars
we love megablocks at our house!! our son is 1 and these blocks never make it back into the bag. they are permanent on our living room floor. every morning my husband will make some structure with all the blocks and when my son gets home from school he toddles straight for the tower and knocks it down. lots of fun!
they help with fine motor skills, counting, colors, creativity....the list goes on.
they stay together well enough to build things, but come apart very easily for little hands. my son is still just putting one block on top of the other and then clapping his hands with pride, but these are something that mom, dad and baby all play with together. my son's favorite is knocking over whatever we build.
i don't have enough good things to say about megablocks!!!
Customer Review: A big hit in our home ! Summary: 5 Stars
My 17 mo. old daughter just LOVES these blocks. Simple things like putting in / taking out of the bag and figuring out how to fit the blocks together, are almost as much fun for her as tearing the structures down. Now we're using the blocks to help learn colors. The pieces themselves are big and light, so they're easy for her to hold and build with - and they don't hurt furniture when they fly across the room in the demolition process! I suspect my husband secretly likes to play with them too, so that makes them a double hit in my household:)
Customer Review: Good for little hands Summary: 4 Stars
These blocks are great for younger kids learning fine motor control. Our kids (2.5 years and 16 months) love playing with them, and like most block type toys, mostly enjoy building towers and then knocking them down. The only complaint I have with the item is that the bag they come in seems rather small, and has now ripped from our repeated attempts to fit all the blocks back inside. Consider getting another type of container to hold the blocks; a larger bag or tub of some sort would do nicely.
Customer Review: For 2 years..the fun has never stopped! Summary: 5 Stars
My son got these blocks 2 years ago and he builds with them every day. He is at the age where we would normally upgrade him to leggos but we have another baby on the way soon so we are just buying another set of these till the next son is old enough for the smaller pieces.
These and Lincoln logs give a mom a much needed break to reconstruct the house every day. Hours upon hours of cheap entertainment.
We highly recommend these.
